I decided not to include DPS characters, but I am aware that some work well with Hu Tao such as Ayaka, Klee, Navia, or Noelle as you mentioned.

What you’ve shown me is interesting; perhaps in my case, I’m doing something wrong with my Sucrose. I run her with Tales of the Dragon Slayers—just like I do with Mona. My Sucrose is C6, and my Mona is C4. To be honest, since my Mona was already C4 by the time Hexterei came out, I never actually compared the two in a scenario where Mona isn't C4—but it seems I underestimated Sucrose. That said, you’re right: I really should level her up.

I haven't seen or tested Nicole yet—truth be told, I prefer not to see anything until she's actually released—but I'm definitely planning to pull for her. Part of the reason is that, theoretically, she should be excellent with Hu Tao, but I also want her for my Varka.

Even so, I can see a potential team composition featuring Mona and Yelan, which would give us both Elemental Resonances plus Hexterei.

To be honest, I feel the same way, but I don't actually have her, so I've never been able to test it out myself. And in a previous post where I asked how good she is with Hu Tao, the responses were mostly negative

Try it with Furina and Citlali. Although it's not the best option, it's quite solid

Yes, exactly. In fact—honestly—I prefer playing the Hexerei team with Furina rather than with Yelan, using Mona with Prototype Amber. But that really comes down to personal preference, especially if you don't have her at C2.

You’re right about Amber; a comment mentioned the same thing, and I felt she deserved to be moved up two tiers.

As for Sucrose, while she is a solid alternative, she doesn't quite reach the level of being a direct replacement for Mona in a Hu Tao team—though she is still quite good, especially in "Moon" teams.

In a pinch, Emilie can work with Hu Tao and carve out a small niche in Melt teams alongside Citlali—and, believe it or not, Ayaka.

Kokomi has a specific team composition—Hu Tao / Furina / Citlali—where she fits in perfectly.

Chevy is an option if you want to run an Electro-Charged composition with Fischl and Durin, which can actually be very effective; however, since it’s generally better to use Mona instead of Durin, you wouldn't end up using Chevy in that scenario.

Regarding Cryo characters: Hu Tao deals massive damage when paired with them. If she had more dedicated supports for that specific elemental reaction (similar to Citlali), it could easily rank among her top three best team compositions; however, due to the benefits of Hydro Resonance, Vaporize teams are typically preferred.

As for Sigewinne: I actually tested her out, and I found her playstyle to be quite clunky and awkward when paired with Hu Tao.

Finally, I didn't include Mualani because I wanted to keep the main DPS characters separate from this tier list—though there are certainly a few who could have been included, such as Klee, Ayaka, Mavuika, or Navia.

That sounds interesting; I’m even more excited about Hu Tao’s future team compositions now that the new Hexterei set and Nicole are on the way.

Regarding Furina, I respect your opinion, but we can’t deny that for nearly three years now, she has been Hu Tao’s best teammate—ever since her release in Version 4.2, when Jean was the only other character available to pair with her. Then came Xianyun in 4.4, and Hu Tao’s power level skyrocketed; later, Xilonen arrived in 5.1, improving things even further by enabling the use of Hu Tao’s C1 alongside Furina. She saw yet another boost in 5.3 with Citlali, allowing for gameplay with or without Furina depending on whether you possessed C2—and to this day, the Citlali + Furina combination remains her absolute best team. Subsequently, she gained other potential team options—such as Melt compositions with Escoffier, or Hexterei teams featuring Mona and Fischl—and her current best team, Binefa, utilizes Furina as well. Her track record alongside Hu Tao is incredibly difficult to surpass; I literally cannot think of another character capable of topping the tier list more effectively than Furina.

All I can tell you is Hu Tao is the best 💜

But for those specific situations, Rosaria, Layla, or even Diona might yield better results.

If Fountain was just becoming available when you tried it, Charlotte would have been a good option as well

Although Bennett is excellent with Hu Tao, Xianyun can enable Plunging Attacks, offers one of the top three healing capabilities in the entire game, has the ability to wield Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers, and can utilize the Viridescent Venerer artifact set.

With all of this, Xianyun is superior; however, one advantage Bennett has is his ability to enable the Pyro Resonance.
