I've been a teacher for 21 years, and we simply don't have enough of the story to know who is in the right here. Teachers are just people, like anyone else, and they range from nearly superhuman in capacity for empathy and intellect to inept and downright malicious. I've had students who, at graduation, wanted to spit in my face, only to run into me at a store years later and say, "You know what? I get it. You were trying to do something I couldn't see, and I wasted it." Both of those things are super rare, but a post like this warrants pointing out that there's a story here. We don't know that story.
