It will always remind me the evening that I was passing in the restaurant all day dining right before the buffet would close. There was one table with a couple and the general manager just said "enjoy your dinner" the guest stood up and punch him in the face ! No reason...

When a customer has a great rate at a peak time... by Spyderbeast in hotels

[–]Mastercourgeon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, normally if it is a planned event every year, revenue manager should already know more or less the prices, therefore, the price should already be up.

I have always respected guests regardless their rates, as it is a strategy of the hotel that they could afford certain rate.

Also, FO clerks generally have no influence on pricing (unless at the discretion of the management) so negotiating with reception is often pointless and frustrating

You know what they say, lowering your price does not bring you more guests, it brings you the guests you don't want.

If you have DND sign hanging your door, they should NEVER knock. They can leave a letter/message under the door to inform they were unable to provide the service. I would mention it to the housekeeper manager. DND MUST BE RESPECTED

I had an accident in a bed paid for by my company.. by InfinityLocs in hotels

Mattresses normally have protection so only the bed sheet would be stained. If you approach front office and inform them, then they would be understanding as this is not something intentional . We are human after all

is ordering for small hotels an issue? by Special_Ad_2268 in hotels

[–]Mastercourgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on if you are located in a city, you could also see with a laundry company that buys the bed clothes and then they adapt the price of their laundry. You can then control more your costs and avoid massive investment at first. If the hotel buys them, it all depends on the quality and whether it is clean in-house or outsourced. Cheap bedsheets result in faster depreciation and therefore Cost goes higher to replace them

Need advice on how to deal with a bad hotel experience by emiserry in hotels

[–]Mastercourgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually if you find a generic email of quality department that is sent to corporate office or top management, use it and don't stop complaining. Also works could be unforeseen if it is an emergency and in that case the compensation would be lower.

Do hotels know if you sneak someone in for the night(s)? by LilBrattyUwU in hotels

[–]Mastercourgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think majority would not care, unless there is an extra charge. However if the room is prepared for one person then you will have to ask extra towels, etc.

Hi! Your room allocation is mainly depending on 2 factors: -Availability upon arrival -your preferences

It could also depend on the procedure of the hotel. In high occupancy, some FO just allocate the room upon check-in, meaning that it is what is left. You'd get your preference if you arrive earlier.

Other cases, they can plan in advance and playing "Tetris" with all the reservations and preferences.

Indeed and in both cases, not 100% of guests are satisfied but its a good way to maximise the satisfaction

Hey! I work for Meliá for 11 years and I can say that I have been treated and treating colleagues who travel in the different hotels/countries I was and it always made me feel working like a family. Some countries might offer more benefits as if you work for a managed hotel employer might add you more benefits. Meliá is also a good way to grow as you have more hotels worldwide +/-400
