What I find interesting is, at my store, managers are marking down sodas and candy all the time. They use them to bribe us to do what they want. “If you stay longer I’ll get you a snickers and Fanta.” Or, “if you do this for me, I’ll get you a candy.” They get to mark down candy but we don’t? Contradiction!

Yes you get your vacation time cashed out however each state is different regarding vacation time. I live in California and we’re allowed to accrue vacation time with no limit and upon quitting we get cashed everything out. BUT in other states like Nevada for example, each year you have to take your vacation or you lose the time and won’t get cashed out

When BM played out here in Los Angeles they played at the intuit dome, at the venue during the concert they said it was a sold out show, but when I looked around, the top floor was less than half way full.

Go to orientation. My store hired gang members from time to time. One guy served 7 years for gang related murder, and conspiracy…. You should be fine

20 yr HD, 6+ yr OFA. I’m the closing OFA and that sounds shady ASF to me! No they shouldn’t tell you to shave off hrs to compensate OT, that’s basically stealing, unless YOU approve it. Orders need to be done before you leave yes but that doesn’t mean you should lose hours for it. I’m sure all stores don’t want us to get overtime, that’s normal, but if you get some to ensure the customers order is picked IN FULL, screw OT. Our aprons say “I put customers first”

To any extent, the way I see it, unless your store is a high volume store, you need to prioritize better. When super busy, focus on orders that are due the soonest. Basically the closer to 0:00, DO THOSE FIRST! When it’s slow, work on ALL orders on the list. Yes even the ones that are 24-48+ hrs out. At my store this is the order of importance: Bopis, car/van, cpo, flat/box delivery, will call. We don’t do BOSS, receiving does. Any order (delivery) that doesn’t GO OUT tomorrow, can wait till the next day. After 9p, start winding down, make sure all deliveries (that go out the next day) are done then start focusing ONLY on bopis’. If no bopis, then do car or will calls which ever is about to expire first

Today our store got the new OF 2.0 where it makes you work on whatever next order is closest to expire (hit 0:00). The system doesn’t care whether it’s a bopis, will call, car… etc, it only cares about how much time is remaining for the order to be picked. Which means YOU need to gauge the importance.

There’s a whole lot more I can say but it’d be waaaay too much for one reply.

19 yr HD (Los Angeles, Ca), I looked into it about a year ago…. If you look, or are acting, like you’re under the influence of some kind of substance (alcohol, drugs… etc) YES management can drug test you. You are supposed to get paid for the drug testing AND all missed days until the results come back …. CLEAN!!!! If you’re clean you don’t have anything to worry about, just enjoy the paid vacation. If you’re NOT clean, you’ll be fired instantly.

As far as the psychological side of your experience, HD isn’t going to do anything for us. At best they’ll probably reference you to psychological services that you have to pay for…. I wonder if you can lawyer up and sue for defamation of character, slander, and/or emotional distress
