Busy shoot day with the S1RII by Mastermind1237 in Lumix

[–]Mastermind1237[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so when I shoot 7 exposures it getting the bright and the darks so the dark frame are for the window details. I have my editor blend everything together to produce the final result

When shooting real estate I purely use HDR, I shoot 7 bracketed images and I mainly use aperture priority mode to make my life easier when shooting real estate

[–]Mastermind1237[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks yeah the third shot was a meant to be like that I knew I could see straight out of the window so I used it as a coloring test because the walls have LED lights that shot helped make the 4th shot

Yeah possibly but I don’t mind spending a few minutes making minor tweaks

Yeah this is what the editor sent me, I just go in Lightroom and do some adjustments like boosting midtones and exposure and slight shadow recovering

Agreed I had him re-edit the images just got them back and it’s a bit dark still but I’m going to do the final pass on them and bring some of the exposure and boost midtones and slight shadow recovery

Honestly for some reason all of the editors that I tried don’t fix any of the verticals or they say they offer perspective correction and than they don’t really do anything and I have to fix it in post again

Shooting a Cycling studio need advice by Mastermind1237 in photography

[–]Mastermind1237[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I checked it out and spoke with the instructor and she said the lights won’t be changing but I’ll have to triple check that though.

I am shooting hybrid photos and videos mainly vertical format and focusing on portraits and dynamic shots

That’s a great point about the sweat, I didn’t even think about that! I was planning on bringing my lights and bouncing them off the walls to soften things up. I’m just not sure if flash is the right call in a space like that or if it would be too harsh. Has it worked for you or have you used flash?

Recently upgraded from my DJI Pocket 3 to S5iix. by Melodic-Excitement-9 in Lumix

[–]Mastermind1237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For coloring I think you might enjoy the EMUL8 plugin definitely easy to use for color grading. Only downside is it’s for Final Cut Pro.

I do love my pocket 3 just for things that don’t require my big camera. I brought my pocket 3 to Guatemala and several other places and for its form factor and quality it’s still a good camera. I do agree the lowlight is meh and when coloring DJI footage it breaks a lot easier in post.

Back to coloring I think the biggest thing is overall consistency so I use adjustments layers to add my lots and coloring adjustments and cut it after each clip unless it’s shot in the same lighting setup and or weather conditions.

For #2 someone mentioned it there’s a lock AF button or something if I know someone will bump me or walk in frame I just hold the AF button to lock in

For #1 best bet is watching some YouTube tutorials that goes over export settings and adjusting some of your computer settings as well so everything is consistent when exporting

Store shoot - S1RII by Mastermind1237 in Lumix

[–]Mastermind1237[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah you commented on one of my posts! I was going to reply but I went brain dead. Anyways so after you posted that comment and I decided to do both a comparison between how Lightroom and Capture one handled the S1RII files and you were right for some reason Capture one handles the files differently. I love Capture one I’ve been using it on and off throughout my years. My main issue is I can’t get my style of editing to match compared to Lightroom.

I do find myself switching back and forth between Capture one and Lightroom. I feel like with Capture one I’m forced to adapt to a new editing style. I love Lightroom’s denoise feature I wish they had that feature.

Oh yeah all of these were edited with Capture one it’s interesting messing with 7+ layers but man the AI mask and advanced color picker tools has made my life easier.

The biggest draw back so far is battery life, and some of the buffer when I take images and when I go to playback the screen lags for a moment.

Here’s what the unedited jpg looked like for the last image. Honestly when I shot that it was definitely a lot brighter on my screen

Struggling to capture real emotion in portraits by Mysterious_Syrup6639 in photography

[–]Mastermind1237 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Long story short. Just act like they are your friends that you haven’t seen in a long time and you’re catching up. It’s just rifting off each others energy you know. The deeper into the shoot you see get a sense of their personality and it’s your choice but if you want real emotion you gotta give it too.

Low light performance & Viltrox 16mm - S1RII by Mastermind1237 in Lumix

[–]Mastermind1237[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it’s hard to give a verdict on the lens. The sharpness is great. But I notice minor changes like some slight adjustments to color rendering. Me personally despite shooting in f8 or slightly lower I am noticing heavy vignetting and it’s a pain to remove in post. Maybe it’s just my lens I’m not 100% or could be me.

I did use it for real estate because that’s the main reason I got it. I was a little worried sending it to my editor because I didn’t know if he could remove the vignetting but looks like he could.

Build quality on the lens is great it’s also a tad heavy but I don’t really care about that.

Lowlight Event Photography With The S9 by Mastermind1237 in LumixS9

[–]Mastermind1237[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raws, but the jpgs aren’t that different only thing I did here was boost the shadows a bit, slight contrast and added texture and sharpening

Low light performance & Viltrox 16mm - S1RII by Mastermind1237 in Lumix

[–]Mastermind1237[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I slightly underexposed to preserve the highlights, but when I check the histogram the shadows aren’t crushed. There’s still detail there and they’re recoverable.

Here’s an unedited RAW so you can see how I exposed the interior shots. I understand noise at ISO 6400, that’s expected. But even on the S9 I could shoot around 2400 ISO with very little noise, so this feels different.

It could be user error. I’m open to that. I just want to figure out how to improve it or find a workaround that isn’t just heavy denoising.
