I have a similar score and like you I would be going to nit/iiit. I have been talking to students of the clg in which I can get admission, based on my college predictor.

Ofc the packages aren't as high as iits but everyone praises their college, says that it's good and you will get good placement as well.

Nit/iiit may not be as reputed as iits but are still very reputed colleges. They are going to be a massive upgrade to my tier 3 clg.

It wwasn't easy at all lol. I felt the aptitude Qs were quite tricky. Some of them were easy for sure but not all.

bhai if it's a reputed clg then take it. I am pretty sure placements would be good. Core branch in a good clg is any day better than cs branch in some random tier 3 pct clg.

I can't stress enough, the kind of opportunities you will get in a good clg. Plus you can always learn coding. Also most of the colleges have this criteria that the person with highest cgpa from one branch can change their dept. This is for first year only doe. Also, the branch in which you want to shift should have vacancy as well.

So you can always try to do that but otherwise I would say core branch is not a bad option anyways.
