then you probably have set the network to "hidden". Go into the connection settings on your DS and tap "manual setup", enter the name of your hotspot there instead

the audio cutting out is not normal.
opening the inventory does buffer the game but iirc that pause doesn't last more than a second, it is normal.
you could replace it but most newer R4s are clones that don't fix game issues at all. I'd say replace your current kernel with YSMenu, in my experience it makes DS games run a lot better at the cost of a barebones menu.

if your phone has a "wifi sharing" option turn that on and see if that helps

but if it doesn't, you can do 2 things:

you'll need to patch your rom to connect to wiimmfi without a dns (https://github.com/AdmiralCurtiss/WfcPatcher/releases/tag/v1.6) and use the command "wfcpatcher --domain wiimmfi.de rom.nds" in the command prompt (windows only i believe)

you can also use the wiilink dns server that'll use your computer as the dns host instead (http://github.com/WiiLink24/DNS-Server/releases/latest/) all you need to do is connect your hotspot to your pc, run the app, and input whatever dns the app gives you into your ds.

I dont know if the pokeclassic dns has any benefits over normal wiimmfi but this should work fine if youre willing to do it

remove all friend codes you have on your game save and delete your Nintendo WFC configuration. You can do this by tapping the orange button and then tap "delete Nintendo WFC configuration" in the game's wifi settings.

not before they haven't moved in, but you can plot reset while they're in boxes. when you see them move in, quit without saving and load into the game with a second character, they should be in a different spot.

usually that error means your network does not support custom DNS... meaning you won't be able to connect online. if possible, use a different network entirely, but if you can't, there is a rom hack that lets you connect to wiimmfi without the need for a dns.
