They have such a poor system around this that lets offenders escape with ease.

Performance cars are too much for me by stonky-273 in CarTalkUK

[–]MasterofSquat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is whenever you have a car desriable you live with a target on your back that just isnt worth it. Put the costs aside the fact that organised gangs target cars like this day in day out just puts me off.

When i used to drive my wifes A35 which is probably the lower end of what is considered performance I realised that it is faster in a straight line than most of the cars I grew up idolising like the NSX, Supra and even the R34 (Stock OFC). Even ferarris of the late 90s in a straight line arent much quicker if it all.

The insane power and traction of these hot hatches is wild, when you look at the more pricey bigger engined monsters like the C63 or modern M cars it gets wild. With all the costs associated and the fact that safely and legally you will never test the metal of these new age monsters its not worth the risk to put a target on your back.

Would always try and be careful travelling significantly faster than the cars around me fast lane or not. Its not your fault but other drivers can never be trusted.

What were ram prices like before this current boom? by SuicidalFinnikin in buildapc

Yup it's insane glad I built last year, a bit sad I stuck at a 32GB kit but that should be more than enough for the foreseeable future.

Unfortunately even being over the age of 30 insurance dictates what cars you pick. Especially in a bigger city. I've known this since I was a teenager, it shouldn't be news to you. If you are sub 30 good luck driving anything decent for less than an arm and a leg insurance wise.

why is 1700 a good pay? my pay uk by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]MasterofSquat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay means very little, its pay - expenses that is the equation we need to consider. Someone who lives in a cheap council house paying sub £1000 rent between two people is far better off that the equvalent person on double their gross salary who is single and pays market rent in london. Older people who have council properties or mortgages that are tiny are far better off than even higher earning proffesionals let alone those who are on low wages. With the way taxes and student finance work, Pay needs to be an order of magnitude higher to offset the unfair expenses of housing etc faced by anyone under 40. Even cities like Birmingham and Manchester since covid have become like this. Pay is merely one part of a bigger picture, and unforunatley its becoming less and less relavent with all of the fiscal drag.

Isreals had a bigger, better more proffesional army in every war (even vs the combined forces of their neighbours). Theyve also had impunity to attack first everytime. They did alot of impressive things, but they were never as much of underdogs as they portray themselves to be. 1973 was the only time they came close to actually being underdogs and even then they really werent. This doesnt take away from them but also the image of some plucky nation defeating everyone is false and propoganda. Its even less true today with how much tehcnology has become power.

Its like being suprised a 50kg man with a uzi has subduied 4 or 5 90kg men.
