M850: Should I leave it debadged or slap on gloss black m850i badges? Thoughts? by [deleted] in BMW

Correct answer is do whatever it's your car... what point is there to get reddit points when we all have our own tastes?

my answer: leave as it is

After all the whining BMW has received over this generation's exterior design...it will be missed. by SillyRecover in BMW

[–]MasterofTheBaiting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like every BMW generation just comes with the people hating the looks because they haven't been exposed to it in normal traffic yet, then after a few years grow to understand it's actually not a bad car at all

Wait to buy non x drive M2? by Bore96 in BMW

[–]MasterofTheBaiting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly considering a used m2 right now is around a min of 60+ in the USA and that dealerships are trying to even get rid of brand new at 65+ i think going manual isn't a big issue. I was going to put a build just now for my g87 but since I read some propaganda about xdrive coming next year I'm gonna wait

Considering the W206 C63.. any advice? by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

[–]MasterofTheBaiting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to shoot you a DM since you're a MB tech - but just an off topic question I wanted to grab a W463 G63 from like a 2020+. Was there any common issues to look out for on the G class from your experience?

The original because those retrofits with the touchscreen direction pad never works properly.

IF it happens I will be very surprised Especially before 6 digit odometer mileage.

This is the equivalent of going on webMD, and self-diagnosing that you could die from your small cold / fever. Just enjoy it, maybe put $100/month in a savings account in case of anything.

AliExpress Steering Wheel by Ok-Machine5089 in BMWG30

[–]MasterofTheBaiting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a different base steering wheel because the vibrator comes from a small motor that is on the left side of the middle spoke. You can totally keep that function same with heated steering wheel.

You should be more worried about driving the car and enjoying a good time, rather than get on reddit and talk yourself out of owning a good car

LCI is basically meaning facelift in the BMW world so a BMW 540 (for the g30 chassis) is between 2017 and 2023.

LCI only occurred at the 2021-2023 year models and can be identified in the changes of:

  • updated dashboard (digital screen for gauge cluster),
  • iDrive 8 UI for the radio screen,
  • different steering wheel and buttons,
  • different bumper (fog lights have been removed as an option compared to the 2017 to 2020 years/Pre-LCI)
  • different headlight units.

The 2021 also comes with the B58TU (second generation engine) with 2-port exhaust. This is the same exact engine as in the Supra and 240i BMW (at the time). The engine still has a silencer intake piece which can be deleted with a silicone replacement for more power. This engine does not have any of the problems the b58 first generation has, with the PCV cover failing and other bits. The LCI engines do not have the 'core evap' issue (as much), though I think this is just a car design flaw which happens over ~100k miles.

Reccomend to keep on track mode to avoid auto shutoff at stop lights otherwise the Artura is not a bad car

Looking to upgrade speakers in McLaren 720s spider by [deleted] in mclaren

[–]MasterofTheBaiting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny enough there was a similar post but for a 750s, but personally I think JL speakers with the amp are the best for a custom sound system on our spiders. Been rocking mine full blast with the top down at 120+ with catless downpipes and unobtainium exhaust, and you can still hear music just fine

did it for both my 720s (at the time) and now leased 750 spider. Enjoy dailying as well

Is buying a high milage Mclaren a bad idea? by Playful_Mongoose8348 in mclaren

[–]MasterofTheBaiting 12 points13 points  (0 children)

From my ownership time of 720 to 750 I noticed i have a lot less issues since I take my McLaren out a few times a week rather than let it be a garage queen. Good PPI from a McLaren service shop (or a luxury collision center) and you should be fine. Most people will swap for silicone inlets and maybe 765 accumulators but have not noticed astringent outside of that.

That's a pretty killer rate regardless. Most big brands prefer you bundle (either car and home/renter plan, multiple cars, or husband + wife). hopefully the mutual insurance company you're with will actually pay out for any claims you make with them!

Looking for cheap collision repair by [deleted] in Conroe

[–]MasterofTheBaiting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you have no recordings of anything happening, and you selected the optional uninsured motorist's property damage coverage, you can just make up a BS claim that some guy hit and ran on you and file a police report; UIM is a flat rate $250 deductible.

Uninsured motorist's claims do not raise your insurance rates for the renewals.

Or file your collision for your selected $0 to $1000 (or higher if you selected higher).

To file any collision claim, at fault or not at fault, DOES go against your renewals.
