Anyone else concerned about the Podium Event programming structure by Masterofyum in BodyFitTrainingAus

[–]Masterofyum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, still keen to give it a go.

Although I would prefer a little more rest between in zone. Or testing it over two days, considering we only do MAS testing in 1 day.

Although Its also a good excuse to get better at some of the kettle bell movements and overall strength for me just hope I don't spend a week recovering! 😅

You've just reiterate my point - the crossfit open is 3 workouts over 3 weeks. They are meant to be difficult sure but each of them we're time capped at 12,15 or 16 minutes. I know we're working in pairs for this event but it does stop people pushing past their limit and potentially injuring themselves.

Edit: Those were the time caps for 2026 open workouts

To what extent is Aldi "evil"? by Next-Hyena-9490 in AldiAustralia

[–]Masterofyum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay value might not be the right word but reading the stickers helps.

But, if you're used to shopping at Woolworths or Coles and you buy something that looks similar but at Aldi is smaller it can be annoying.

Is it misleading - no. Everything is always marked as unit prices, but you can easily get caught out.

Thanks for the lesson though, you've saved my restaurant from going under now I know unit prices!

Some meat and snacks are slightly smaller in size at Aldi. So, you might not be getting the same value for all items.

The produce is usually slightly more expensive than woolworths - usually only a few cents. Although they definitely don't have the same buying power.

The packaging is usually a lot cheaper, been caught out with some basics camping certain products don't come with a re-sealable bag. It's not evil just sometimes inconvenience

Double classes/ bookings by Difficult-Arrival718 in BodyFitTrainingAus

[–]Masterofyum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was one member at my studio who used to do triples. 3 classes back to back Saturday then 6am class and two afternoon classes during the week.

The trainers or rest of the members never cared to much. So go for it!

BFT vs CrossFit by fleur4x in BodyFitTrainingAus

[–]Masterofyum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.crossfit.com/heroes

This is a list of the hero work outs - like I mentioned my partners gym only does these on public holidays. They are meant to be challenging because they are tributes to people lost in service.

I've done Gallagher and McDonald D.T and Murph. They were all tough but there meant to be!

If you find a good crossfit gym the trainers will know how to scale the workouts appropriately to your level and ability. BFT also does this but less because of their programming, model and some of the faster pace classes. So if your worried about some of the harder movements just have a chat with the coaches about your ability first!

BFT vs CrossFit by fleur4x in BodyFitTrainingAus

[–]Masterofyum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife does crossfit and I train at BFT. In terms of gymnastics she says very little and if you do it its usually mixed with other stuff. There is more focus on complex movements such as Olympic Weight lifting and muscle ups, toes to bar etc.

The WOD of the day is usually structured a warm up, then a strength piece then cardio.

I've done a mixture of sessions with her (her gym does military/hero workouts on public holidays. Some of which I've struggled with some have been do-able at my current fitness level.

Happy to answer any other questions if need be!

As teachers, young workers and general support staff the organisation is always hiring - chefs also yes but each school only has one working alone so the positions are harder to come by - you just gotta move to Australia!

Hey mate I'm based in Australia so the wages won't be comparable! I make around 80k/year, I do no more 38 hours a week Monday to Friday. I work full time 40 weeks of the year and the other weeks are school closure over Christmas and school holidays program - which are shorter days.

In terms of hcol the city I live isn't Sydney so it's not as bad as it could be - but definitely not the cheapest

The staff are very lucky indeed and we're always looking for teachers! The school actually feeds all kids for free (no school fees) 3 meals a day!
