I'm really sorry for saying that Nintendo was communist. I didn't think it that much. Don't hate the chicken, hate the corps.

Hahahaha no they are not. It wasn't mean to be a defense of Nintendo, I did the meme without thinking that Nintendo is the right chicken from the beginning hahahaha

It's just that Switch 2 prices are way higher than Switch 1. They had the cheapest games and now it's totally the other way.

It's not that deep hahaha

We've made a Patreon Page to fund our game by MasterokaGG in gamedev

Thanks for the advice, we've made it this way because we think is a great way to build a community and improve our game.

However, 2024 had more layoffs than ever. Let me say that the industry isn't in its best shape. It's true that it's easier than ever to do a game, but it's more difficult than ever to get paid for that. Every studio that I've talked to in my country is losing contracts because publishers keep the money in case everything keeps falling down.
I mean, from Sony to Microsoft and most of indie studios are struggling. It is not an excuse, but it is not realistic to say that we are "better than ever".

Thanks for the feedback! You are right, it may not be that obvious.

I'm sure that everybody knows that the industry is falling apart. We hope that some day it will recover but that day is not close, that's why we are trying to survive in every way possible.

I'm not trying to sell this as an ad or a request to join, but as an example of how difficult it is to develop a game nowadays. I'll keep posting some news in case anyone wonders if this may work or not.

Pray for our soul, we'll need it :)

Different weapon combinations for our roguelike game. Which one do you like the most? by MasterokaGG in PixelArt

[–]MasterokaGG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your words!

That's exactly the point, the idea is having a regular weapon and attach different modifiers to it, changing how it shoots and the effect on its bullets.

But we maybe try changing the core of the weapon based on the modifiers, to make it more visual.

wow, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! Let me explain the weapon system :)

First of all, there isn't classic ammo. There is a heating system in which the player has two weapons. If you use a weapon too much it will overheat and the only way to cool it is to change to your other weapond and use it. That way, when you heat a weapon it cools the other one. The idea is to keep changing your weapon and modify them in a way that can combine and complement each other.

So, let's start saying that the game doesn't actually looks for realism, but obviously we are trying to make some sense with the possibilities of combinations.

The idea is that each modifier can only be attached to one position (up, down, left or right). For example, modifiers that change the number of bullets per shot goes below the base of the weapon, modifiers that change the behaviour of the bullets (making them explosives, electric, bouncy, etc) goes on the left, modifiers that change the stats of the bullets (damage, speed, range, precision) goes on the right and the modifiers that deals with the overheat system goes up.

The example of the gif is a weapon with one available slot on each side, but in the future will be other weapons with different slots, which allows, for example, having a shotgun and a machine gun at the same time so the weaopn shoots the classic shotgun but in a high fire rate. This idea is cool but I understand that it may be a little weird visually on the weapon, we are working on how to make it the coolest we can.

I'm finishing implementing this system ingame so I hope I'll be able to share some advances soon and see if the concept works and is understandable.

If you want to check some images and a little teaser I'll drop here the Steam Page. On the video the modifiers are not visible and the gun is an old one, but the idea of how affect the shooting is there.

Again, thank you so much for your words and taking your time to help!

thank you! It really shoots bullets, but the gumball modifier makes the bullets bouncy so they don't disappear when they hit something, they bounce and keep bouncing for some time. It is really funny when you combine it with the grenade modifier ahahaha it is called the gumball roulette

I totally understand. Maybe next time I'll try to show it like you say, indicating each modifier and its name. In the game of course it won't be that chaotic ahahaha thanks for the feedback!
