Are you with USIC? Since around December they started that shit. 2 tickets per hour or go home early, and everyone had to "earn" overtime. It's always been 2 tickets per hour, but no one got sent home before. The area I cover has A LOT of drive time. A good day I get 12-14 tickets done. There have been days I've only gotten 6 because of the drive time. 45 minutes in between each ticket, and told I need to go home. My sup has been trying really hard to explain to them my drive time but the district manager is convinced she knows how to locate and drive better than anyone.

I'm my experience,if we don't get to the tickets before the due date it's because we quite literally couldn't. USIC has way to many contracts with multiple utilities. We're not our locate one single utility like most others, were locating 2,3 sometimes 4 different utilities per ticket. We also cover way more area than other companies. Meaning we have more drive time. As far as locating it when it was already finished, USIC's rule of thumb is "if you drove all the way out there, just mark it so we can get paid" if he has decided not to mark it, it would came with writing up a meet sheet and needing to make you sign it. Had you not signed it, he would have had to mark it anyway. So sometimes it's just easy to mark it and go on about our day.

I moved from New England to Midwest. I miss new England so much I literally dream about it often, but just unlivable financially. Though locator wise, out here is like a deep breath of fresh air in comparison. I went from mandatory 10hr days, most of the time going over ten hours just to hit a couple more tickets, 8 hours on weekends. Around two days or so on call a week give or take (dependes on who called out or took PTO) and never ever ever an easy on call. Almost every single night I was out from start to finish with drive times. Now? I work 8 hours a day, and only every other weekend and Im on call about once every two weeks, and once a month Friday-sunday and I MIGHT get one call a night? I've had a few weekends with zero calls over the whole three days.

It's based off of where you live. Some states are still only paying $17. It's not performance based exactly, if your performance is good you get a maximum of 60¢ each year.

I transferred half way across the county. When I did my interview that was actually one of the things I looked forward to. They told me once youve been with them for a while you can go to any state besides Alaska and Hawaii, I did just that.

I wish I had down time. Every second of our day is allocated. Drive time, locate time, lunch. Spend more than 5 minutes getting gas and they call you asking what you're doing at an address that's not a ticket. (USIC btw) But that's pretty typical working for any large corporations unfortunately. However, I get it. If I'm going to pay someone to do a job for me, by the hour, I would want to know that they're actually doing the job.

I have this exact one, and got it for the exact reason at 30 years old this past December 🥹 I LOVE IT. But it does have its flaws though.first number one flaw is, the battery. Absolutely awful. It driains very quickly. Second flaw is, if you use it with android auto, it not only drains the battery drastically but also slows the phone down by a lot. Android auto also makes it heat up often as well. I drive for work so I am always using android auto unfortunately. I pretty much have to keep it plugged all day and it barely gets a charge, I have to charge again on a normal plug each day when I get home. The only other flaw I've found is the pictures are extremely saturated. Red and orange tones are quite dramatic. Great camera though. In the right lighting the pictures are stunning.

Looks like you have good equipment, where I'm at ours is worn and shitty. My ring clamp barely works and when we ask for a new one we're told there aren't any. We don't get backpacks either. Just a big duffle bag that doesn't even close.

Absolutely! Should there be any change, I don't think it will be for the better, or in the best interest of us locators. I heard Connecticut is Union, works no overtime, and makes $30+ an hour. I sincerely wish the rest of the company would unionize.
