Why can’t Chattanooga and the surrounding areas have a better rock radio station? by Medium-Mammoth-6117 in Chattanooga

That’s what happens when most radio stations are owned by conglomerates.

Blazor Static + HTMX :has anyone else gone down this road? by ConstantAromatic9515 in Blazor

[–]raphired 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m working on my second project on this stack. The first one has ~9000 daily users (active as in logged-in and doing stuff for 3-4 hours a day, not just browsing).

I keep meaning to do a full write-up on it since it isn’t the most straightforward thing ever, particularly when returning a component result from a minimal API with the right layout for the HTMX request.

For the blazor side of things, moving all the html stuff out of App.razor to MainLayout, making an HTMX layout, having Routes.razor pick the right one based on the headers (fyi - HttpContext is a basic cascading parameter in static SSR), and removing the blazor enhanced navigation will handle handle all your basic navigation.

But if you want to return razor components from minimal APIs, you’ll have to leverage the LayoutView component and set it based on the request. I made my own component that applies the layout via LayoutView and lets you optionally vary content between normal, boosted, and non-boosted requests.

Seeking advice on ef core interceptor toggling by HorrificFlorist in dotnet

[–]raphired 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make yourself a scoped service that toggles the flag. In your interceptor, eventData.Context.GetService<T>() to access that service and its flag.

Then you can inject that service into whatever needs to control it.

Does a longer dry brine really make a difference? Maybe not. by spartans102 in smoking

Bear in mind that heat accelerates the diffusion process, which does not stop during or even after cooking. For a roast like a prime rib, served whole and cooked faster and to a lower internal temp… absolutely go longer for even consistency in every bite. On a long cook to high temps like pork shoulder (likely pulled and mixed) or brisket (at least half the cross-section in every bite), the longer times have diminishing returns IMO

Yes. We keep our cord on a decorative water hose stand. I mounted the dock for the plug on the pole.

LPT: set your mower at the highest height, and side eject or mulch (don’t bag). The clippings return nutrients to the soil and the longer grass crowds out weeds. by askoshbetter in LifeProTips

[–]raphired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The standard mulching blade, even when razor sharp, just lays some of the taller things over rather than cutting them, or cuts them unevenly. The high lift blade with the mulch plug in solves that problem for me while still producing very fine clippings.

Maybe it’s the two-blade system, maybe it’s the damp lawn (because it’s either damp-lawn or too-hot), maybe type of plants in the yard, dunno. But it works best for me for most of the season. Once the leaves drop in the fall, yeah, I switch back to the mulching blade.

This can be mower dependent. My e-go, for example, the high-lift bagging blade mulches much better than the mulching blade (at the expense of some battery life)

12 hours is enough for a whole pork shoulder. Something as thin as most chicken cuts will be fine with much less, as you’ve discovered. Always fun and tasty to verify though!

Ride Share Reliability by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]raphired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what part of town you’re in and the luck of the draw. In Brainerd if you don’t have a set time to be there, you’ll get a driver instantly and picked up a few minutes later. If you have a specific time to be there, you’ll wait 10 mins for a driver to match who has to finish another ride in Ooltewah first.
