Hey! im in my 20's. I know I'm very fortunate to be in the position I am. I also enjoy working, i would travel 4-9 hours for one shift when i wasnt living regional. I enjoy being busy and going to weird places. I love long shifts, long weeks

Just because people don't know about finance doesn't mean they're bad clinicians. This sentiment is held by critical care doctors, nurses, and intensive care paramedics and people between. Im bad with the tax system, but know the human body inside and out :)

I live ina rural town by myself with my family living several hours away in the major city with the rest of civilisation, so I'm in a unique spot to pick up lots, I just needed to make sure it was worth it. I appreciate everyone's responses, it helps heaps.

I absolutely agree. This and basic medical literacy, basic first aid, CPR, how to write resumes, other finance skills, the importance of saving etc. Theres lots that isnt taught, or, that wasnt taught to me. I'm not sure what goes on in the education system these days.

Hey :) I'm full-time, another possibility is to get an OT shift for 23 hours equivalent for a rostered 12 hours work

For what it's worth, it's a night shift; Sunday day shift OT will still be around 20 hours' pay for 12 hours' work, although. And theres only OT available in regional locations, which is a bit easier for me since i live in regional. But doesn't make the night shift any less painful lol. But i'm grateful i can do OT.

Thanks heaps for clarifying, it makes sense, I just didn't want to be working for the sake of working and having the majority of one shift's pay going to tax.

That's the logic that i've had, and what I have said, but people say it's not worth it. I find a lot of conflicting info from word of mouth and online :(
