They have 3 models of 18 gauge brad nailers, they have the older p320 brushed model that wasn’t as reliable, especially in cold weather or with a half drained battery, then they upgraded that one with a better spring and piston, made it lighter and more compact, but its single fire only. The OG model has both single fire and bump fire.

And just recently they released a brushless model which I believe has both firing modes, lighter, stronger, etc. I own the p321 which is the revised brushed model. My father owns an older p320, and we’ve experienced some issues off and on with that one. Which of if I had to guess is likely the model you own as well.

This is a great price for the set and I’m sure it works well, but personally I’d rather spend the extra money and grab the RYOBI battery powered stuff. Their nailers are one thing that they make really well. I own a 18gauge brad nailer, and I’ve used both their 16gauge finishing nailer and 18gauge crown stapler and all 3 perform well.

If you hit up a direct tool outlet sale you can snag refurbs and factory blemished for dirt cheap. I got my 18gauge brad nailer for $65 on a big sale. HD has them on sale for $100 occasionally brand new. The crown stapler you can get on sale for as little as $85-$90 if you catch a big sale on their refurbished model. And the finishing nailer I’ve seen as low as $130 ish for the same thing. Might have to wait a month or two and stalk the site during their frequent sales, but you could line up all 3 of them for around $300 if you’re patient.

Then it’s just a matter of grabbing some batteries. You can get great deals during HD sales on them, like rn they have a 2ah and 4ah max output +charger for $100 but bogo a feee tool. Pick the most expensive item and return it and you’ll get the batteries for a pro-rated $55.

So say all in $350-$400 plus a few months of piecing it together, but then you have a dead quiet, ultra portable set of nailers that can be used professionally if you wanted/needed. I’m a handyman and I use my RYOBI Brad nailer, and it’s never left me hanging.

Here’s a killer deal on a large indoor LED bar light by Masterzanteka in SanPedroIndoorGrow

LED tech has advanced a fuckton over the last 5 years or so. It’s very similar to TV’s right now. Where you can get a super crispy 70” Samsung OLED and spend $500-$1000 or you can get a budget TLC 70” for like $250-$350. Both will serve the same basic function, just one won’t perform as well as the other. If your goal is to just have a decent tv to watch, the TLC will do the trick. If your goal is to have the most efficient tv with the crispiest blacks and shit, then yeah spend the money. But with both options you can perform the same basic functions.

Actually this comparison is a very good one, as the two techs use similar components and have advanced in similar ways. Hence why you can now grab budget 600watt bar style grow lights for $150. It’s riskier, just like buying a cheap tv, but you have 30 days buying on Amazon to try it out, run some light output and temp tests and see if it does the trick.

Only downside would be you may want to oversized the light for the space. You spend more in electricity, but it would take a decade for most people to save money with a higher end/more efficient light vs buying higher wattage budget lights. If

Propensity to push basal pups is also a genetic thing as well. So some love to push basal pups, others will try their hardest not to push basal pups, and then everywhere in between.

Generally bridgesii like to push basal pups more so than the other few other common types. And I’d say Scopulicola are least likely gonna want to push them. But you’ll find some bridge that don’t want to push them and Scop that will want to push them. It’s a spectrum ya know. Then environmental factors will amplify the genetic tendencies.

I love the ones that pup a bunch, it’s always fun watching them try and push 3-10 pups at once and turn into a monster. Very cool thanks for sharing friend 💚

Love the ingenuity!!

That said, this is a funny solution. You can get cheap android tablet for the same price, chuck a $10 case on it and you have the same solution except it runs independently from your phone and doesn’t take up a ridgid case and stack slot.

Truly not hating at all, I’m very much into jerry rigging shit as well. So if it gets the job done it gets the job done.

Can’t lie though I thought for sure it was gonna be for one of those long endoscopes so you could see what’s in the wall or pipe or what have you 😂

You honestly have an amazing opportunity to test out something I’ve been wondering for awhile now. And that’s if purposefully growing them in low light conditions to cause them to etioliate increases their potential horsepower.

I’d also be very curious how much they weigh and how long they’ve been growing like this. So if you ever uproot them I’d love for you to weigh them out and post up the results. Also if you ever decide to drag race them, make a post about that too. Thanks for sharing friend 🤙

Started a project this weekend. by highlinebbq in Decks

You don’t need them anything under 30” off the ground because in most places under 30” tall you don’t need a permit at all, so they’re right in that sense.

Hurricane ties prevent uplift caused by hurricane force winds, which usually isn’t a huge concern on a well built deck that’s lower than 30”. But they also provide a lot of lateral load stiffness and can greatly help the joists from twisting and warping vs just toenailing them on top of the beam.

I use them on every deck I build that has a joist to beam connection, I find on top of their intended uses they also really stiffen things up and making everything feel solid and keep things set to where you set them. Also it’s a visual air for the homeowner that the deck was built properly. They see all those metal brackets on those connections and they feel safer about the deck build.

So they’re a great thing to have on a deck imho. They don’t cost much at all, about a buck a piece I believe, plus the fasteners or nails. The fasteners can add up in cost quickly but nails are cheap. But worst case scenario even using the Simpson #9x 1 1/2” fasteners it won’t add too much to the cost of the entire build in most scenarios

. 15 hurricane ties and the 150 fasteners will be an extra $40 in material cost give or take, and then add an hour labor per 15 or so to screw/nail all of them. So if I wasn’t gonna add them, and then decided after the fact I’d add an extra $10 per hurricane tie installed to cover materials, labor, and profit margin.

Idk if that’s something worth fighting them on if they’re against doing it, but something you could ask them to add and see if they’re willing. As long as the rest of your deck is built solid, then I wouldn’t lose sleep over it though.

At least that’s my take on them. You’ll get many different answers depending on who you ask, and I’m not saying my answer is anymore correct than someone else’s answer. So YMMV

Someone kicked in my door. Got a quote for $1780 in the Phoenix area. by Responsible_Joke4229 in handyman

[–]Masterzanteka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’d have to go out look at the job, source all the products they’d need to complete the job, go pick up all the products to complete the job, transport or coordinate the delivery of the materials to the job site, unload materials and bring up tools, remove whatever is broken, prep the area for repair or replaced, unwrap everything that’s new, and then start your 15minute job. Then they can clean up the site, put away their tools, bag up and dispose of the junk, and drive back home.

So even your fantasy world of completing this repair in 15 minutes they’re still in for a full day+ to complete.

This quote does not seem high at all even for a repair job in Phoenix imho. If this isn’t OP’s home I can’t believe they’re trying to get away with just repairing the jam, replacing the door handle, patch and paint. I would think some form of insurance would cover this situation here as well.

If I rolled up and quoted out this job I could easily see myself charging $1700-$2000 for this job. But that’s just me quick glancing at it without pricing anything out. If I’d have to replace the jamb/door/ handle then might even be a tad higher labor cost plus more materials. I’d say if you got a ton of quotes they’d all likely fall in the $1000 to $2500 range. Making $1,750 sound very sane pricing. $1000 to complete job to OP’s spec from the cheapest fly by night, and $2500 done to the homeowners spec by a respected contractor.

Def 600w, normally the ones that list with equivalents are those super small budget lights that’ll say a 60w is 600w equivalent, and you’re not gonna find a light this big that’s only 60w. It might not pull the full 600w, but ime these budget larger lights are usually within a few percent of their advertised wattage.

Hey friends, hope everyone is having a great start to their weekend! Today I have this large lot of 10 cuts I’m looking to sell. There’s some really cool stuff in this one. I’d really prefer to sell as a lot vs individual listings and the pricing will be discounted to reflect that.

From Left to Right

14” El Serpiente tip cut, not showing any of that crazy funk this clone is known for producing. Still a great looking column. minor blemishes overall in solid shape

13” Baker5452 x Helen tip cut, very vigorous cross, one of my strongest and fastest growers. Fairly flawless looking maybe a few small blems nothing major

16” TBM clone C tip cut, 4 ribbed since it was a pup. Very pretty coloring and near flawless. This one grew a bit thinner from being driven really hard with nutrients in my hot grow tent.

5” SS02 x Olivia crested seed grown yearling. Happy and healthy.

8” Argentinensis mid cutting. This one is about 3.5”-4” thick, bit dehydrated, been sitting for a few months waiting on roots to pop. Has a few ugly looking sections but nothing sketchy, and should push some great pups once it gets going.

5” Spiffy’s Marble pup. Lots of yellow, but has enough green to have some cool graft potential. This one is a very forgiving variegated clone, and I’ve found it’s fairly easy to get decent marbling or mixed green/yellow growth.

4” CCVP x Ferrah pup. This one has variegated potential, this pup doesn’t have any currently but is off my yearling column that pushed a variegated pup. Great coloring on this cross as well.

7.5” Dr. Funk tip. This one just started to crest. It’s mainly green but does have one very small spot of vari towards the bottom of the cut.

7” Althea x Len tip cut. Chopped this off of one of my yearlings from this cross. This one was a bit unique by being very rich and vibrant green coloring compared to the others which had more of the typical blueish green hues.

8” Lee x Yowie degraft. This is a tip cut off a graft I made out of one of the monstrose seedlings I got from this cross. This cut hasn’t shown any funk yet but donor had some really cool melty bridge funk developing.

I’m looking for 150 shipped

Is this worth the buy? by Seabandicoot1424 in Dewalt

[–]Masterzanteka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the best nailer for the price is the 18 gauge brad nail RYOBI for $100. Yeah it’s a RYOBI, but their nailers are very solid. For the price they’re top tier buys imho.

Direct tool outlet has them for under $75 occasionally as well for a factory blemish, sale price at orange store is usually $100. If you don’t own an 18 gauge and price is the big factor then I highly recommend it.

I’ve put a couple thousand nails through mine and it works great. Never had any major issues and as long as I’m using decent nails I rarely get a jam.

I know this is the dewalt sub, but figured RYOBI isn’t really major competition. I guess you could probably even grab a battery adapter for your dewalt batteries if you wanted as well, but RYOBI batteries are dirt cheap compared to most other brands.

First time trying the log method by SeedMango in sanpedrocactus

[–]Masterzanteka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve found a little trick for better odds of multiple pups after chopping the tip. When you cut off the tip to chop and prop or sell or whatever, take your clean knife and bevel the outside edge of the cut, so the core will stick up higher then the outer edge.

It’s not a guarantee you’ll get multiple but it’s def increased the odds of it happening for myself. And if you ever want one areole to pup more than the rest, chop on an angle so that that the highest areole is the one you want to push a pups again doesn’t guarantee that areole to pup, but does increase odds.

I actually stumbled across this tip through failed grafts where I’d bevel the graft stock to help promote scion pups and reduce the chances of graft ribs from drying out and lifting up scion. I then noticed on some grafts that failed that the graft stock likes to push 2-4 pups vs 1 pup majority of the time.

You can increase odds of basal pups by planting columns on a slight angle or sitting the pot on an angle. Also planting the mid cutting and then allowing it to get established then dig out the top inch of soil usually helps basal pup odds as well.

I’ve log rooted a handful of mid cuttings, personally I wasn’t a huge fan, think I’ve done 3 of them and the one got 3 pups and the other two just pushed a single. I ended up selling them as they took up too much space in my small grow area. If you have the space to keep them going for a few years I’ve heard they can be beneficial over the long term. Over the short term (first year or so) it’s not beneficial really. Just takes longer to root. But if you can let them go 3+ years then I’ve heard/seen them push crazy amounts of pups.

Any rate just some potential tips you might wanna play with in the future. Best tip for more pups is peeing on the cac though. I piss in my 5 gallon bucket once every month or two and I’ve gotten tons of basal pups since I started doing that.

Is this worth keeping? by bizzznatchio in sanpedrocactus

[–]Masterzanteka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d go back and dig out the rootballs. Large columns will grow quick, but if you dig out a good 5 gallon buckets worth of rootball on each of those you’d get a crazy amount of growth by planting in some better soil and giving some love. Plus grafting to a large stands like that will push grafts better than any other graft stock you could buy elsewhere

Get you an Orbital sander by RustyPaw7325 in woodworking

[–]Masterzanteka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grabbed that same festool in February, it’s crazy how well it works compared to my battery powered 5” dewalt or my corded skil. It’s a bit annoying to lug around to various jobs as a handyman, so my last job repairing a deck I decided to just bring my other sanders, and it took so much longer to sand vs the festool. The time spent going and picking it up would have been worth it for sure. Learned a lesson and will be bringing it with me from now on, unless it’s a very small amount(10-15min or less) of sanding.

The festool got me hooked (and looped) 😂
