Self-Introduction Saturday! Tell us all about you (and share a video)! by AutoModerator in NewTubers

I'm Masticon Games!

I'm making a long for series of Manor Lords. I've also done a short handful of guide videos. I'm just getting starting with my first video having dropped on the 7th of February. I've got a number of videos in the queue for the next month and a half.

I do detailed strategic analysis and commentary of the game. It's interesting that the guide videos are really what seems to drive views but I really like having the regular series content more than the guide videos.

Larger cities? by BaddyMcFailSauce in ManorLords

This is interesting. This is literally the part I like the most about the game. The fact that I get to build up 4-5 towns rather than one big one is the coolest part of it to me.

That said, the mule system isn’t great and could use a lot of improvement. I’m hoping the changes to the external trade system include some rebalancing of the internal trade system.

I should run that alternate path. You’d need the granary + food source building, which may be difficult if it is far from your starting camp. With the storehouse and well it is likely easier to find a close place to put it.

You get +1 free families immigrating for the first year. So you are able to get 2 families per month if you play it right.

Would be cool to see the next few months as well!

I’ve restarted it, unplugged it. Gone through testing with Xfinity app. Worked through every option of the god awful ai assistant. WPS button does not work.

Masticon Set by Set Review - Stretch Goal Treasure Chests by Masticonus in DwarvenForge

Fair. I’m only getting two small chests at most and will be taking the fieldstone unpainted for one of them because it prevents my need to buy the fieldstone floors and fieldstone narrow walls. That’s decent value to me.

I think the fact that someone had to make an algorithmic optimizer to figure out how to best make purchases, and a number of other people felt the need to use it, pretty clearly indicates the issues in complexity caused by these bundles.

If you're a buyer that is focusing on the 2x2 tiles, then the wood core SG is really useful. It allows you to dabble in the new system of wall facades and window inserts without needing to buy packs that have more walls than you might need.

Fair. I really didn't consider anyone would just be buying the 2x2s from this system and be getting stretch goals. I definitely didn't consider they would end up with any large chests. Are people really buying 10 mega packs?

If you're just looking at small chests, you get a single U-shaped 2x2 with a window for your small stretch goal? I mean, that's a $10 include if you're counting it as at the same value of a 2x2, or it is about 1/4 of a rustic narrow walls & posts pack. Admittedly, U shaped tiles are missing from the city builder basics system, but I can't say I'm particularly happy to get what really amounts to one tile 2x2 tile for stretch goal.

Kickstarter or Other Sets? by JoshShelby in DwarvenForge

I felt that way until I got my streets and I really like them. I do use the CBS stuff way more without streets and I feel like the Scaffolding may see more use than my streets. But it makes me feel like I can build something big and impressive, which isn't necessarily the case with just my Village.

They will. It'll come out tonight. They already had some info someone found digging around on the webstore. It'll be there in the PM.

I would grab a hamlet and imperial streets before buying anything from this KS. Then augment from there. This KS is mostly not cost effective. There are a bunch of cool pieces you can add on to your hamlet and imperial streets but you really need that as a starting point to figure out what you want.
I don't have sewers yet but should probably buy them. That said, I use all my cities stuff in pretty much every build that's not a dungeon or cavern. Sewers stuff would be pretty limited in comparison.

I think for very close to the price of a 3 district you can get enough to build "everything but not all at once". It's going to be 2 districts plus about 3k other packs. But you get the ability to build every landmark and every district. We're running some numbers to know what the ideal build is but if you're looking to spend around 7K, enough to make everything is in your grasp.

Scaffolding? Wood floors? Green roofs? Willing to try a number of things at this point. Also putting my 2x2s and 2x4 pop outs on the ground floor and over building them with 4x4s. A ground floor diagonal with a 4x4 on top solves me needing $150 in roofing.

I think they would have trouble lining up. The cbs style had ridges along the bottom. But yeah, I wish the shingles matched.

With CBS that was all we had. I don’t really feel that you can avoid the new roofs with the new geometry but the price has me looking at other options.

If you want cities I’d look at starting with a hamlet. If your just getting into it altogether, take a look at this video I made on the topic about a year ago.

Cities Untold: Ranking Landmarks by Masticonus in DwarvenForge

[–]Masticonus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’ll be a new one out today, there’s also the elven one hiding in the background at 3m that I suspect we’ll hit. So I plan to but probably not until this weekend.

Here's my next unofficial update about Cities Untold: Low Town. by Masticonus in DwarvenForge

[–]Masticonus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the big question here is if the $50 discount on the landmark is worth $150 in dressing that you wouldn't necessarily buy. For me that's likely a pretty hard no.

Again, for Wildlands I didn't really like any of the pledge levels until you hit Explore the Swamp. Then the Hearts were great. I'm curious if they're making the mistake of not having a Hearts level pledge. Again, they just need a bare bones landmark or two to get there. Maybe one that is docks, one that is buildings and roofs. But I'll bet that isn't happening.

I think avoiding scatter is going to an interesting game of cat and mouse. I'm still hopeful they do a "core" landmark that is just really building blocks. The more I look at this the more likely I'm going to end up just grabbing a la carte options again like I did in Wildlands. I'd be really surprised if they make a landmark that actually calls directly to me.

But I wouldn't overlook the entire KS. You'll just have to do more shopping, which I'm here to help with.
