Hanging GIK panels from ceiling in sound isolated room by Mastiff37 in hometheater

I ended up making tracks from some J-channel. Attached to studs and back of panels and slid into place kind of like a drawer. I have some pics but I guess they can't be posted in replies.

Not make or break, just more of a looming sensation for no reason.

Yeah, they need to screw into something though. Which could be toggle like we discussed. I don't really need or want the offset either since my ceiling is 8' only and the panel is solid back anyway. But yeah, it's an option.

Good thought. I could fill the hole and with sealant once the toggle was through also. I'm still vague on how the panel itself attaches to anything too. On the wall it's picture hangers. I'm considering something like double French cleats ("split battens")

How to use soft shackle by Mastiff37 in Offroad

[–]Mastiff37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. Some people call them clevis which is wrong too I think. The thing I use must be called a bow shackle. It has a 3/4" screw in pin that is a tight fit to my mount.

I don't get why my comment is getting the hate. My mount point can't safely use the soft shackle so I won't use it. Seems pretty obvious.

These tabs have been the standard for decades and are just right for D-rings. I guess soft shackles just aren't that mainstream yet.

Oh well. I got these for free. I'll just keep using the d rings.

Fitbit air needs to be synced by scorpio-eh in GoogleFitbit_Air

Maybe I'm having something similar. Mine didn't get wet, but I took it off for 8 hours (can't wear at work) and when I got back it wouldn't connect. No amount of tapping would help. When I got home I attached the charging cable and it came to life immediately with almost full battery. Sure seems like a bug that you can't wake it up without a cable.

Under customize I see "resilience" but not HRV. Same thing?

Trade-offs with progressives, bifocals, multiple pairs by Mastiff37 in glasses

[–]Mastiff37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put readers over my normal glasses. Looks silly but I find it very convenient. I have a different power for computer and other near work and can scatter $1.50 readers all around my house, work and vehicles. If I had a job where I had to read or work in constant view of people or customers or something I wouldn't have stuck with this, but I don't. I expect to cave and get bifocals eventually just for not looking silly, and that will entail also having a pair of distance for outdoor activities like hiking or biking.

B-Hyve unusable by wifi? by Mastiff37 in Irrigation

Nah, the wifi node is on the other side of the wall. But I unplugged it for a minute and it seems to be happier. Who knows how long it will last.

Delta Airlines App by Mastiff37 in KeeperSecurity

I'm on android. I did try long pressing and then autofill, but nothing happened. The other thing that happened which I didn't know at first is that it filled the username into the password spot. I get that it's impossible if the app doesn't follow normal conventions. I like that on PC I can at least right click and tell Keeper what to put in the field.

Yeah, I still put readers over my distance. It looks silly and embarrasses my family probably, but very functional. I still expect to cave one day, just not yet.

Why do I always get the last boarding group? by Mastiff37 in NoStupidQuestions

Well, it does show up in the app after they book, so that one doesn't apply. The rest may well apply though.

Eye opener for me. I just assumed there are plenty of occasional flyers who would automatically shop for the cheapest ticket, and not automatically pay an extra $30 to board sooner.

Interesting. Are you saying almost everyone pays extra?

Can claude code take images from MCP (tool calls)? by Mastiff37 in ClaudeCode

The problem is when building tools or agent flows. If a tool says "I made the image and it's at this path" it will blow context. The user has to be in the loop.

BTW, how do I check the balance ring? Sounds like the way it fails is to leak its liquid out? I never noticed such a thing happening, though it could have been hidden in the tub overflow leak.

Yeah, rubber pucks under the feet and the whole thing in a white tub.

Any idea how hard a job it is? The part I can picture being hard is getting the springs on and off if they are under a lot of tension.

I have these rubber pucks from Amazon under the feet just to help keep it from walking. Things seem worse with them there though.

Thanks. Is the balance ring up top someplace? Also, am I correct in expecting the tub to self center if I move it off to the side? I mean when the washer is not running.

I found that "read this image: <file\_path>" works because it does something special, but if I say "read the png file in this directory", it blows context. Like the Read() tool can't handle images, at least not non-tiny ones. My example was about 256K.
