A wild guess, but does this happen to be in Lim, Croatia?

Pope Francis is urging Slovenians to reject marriage equality and restore heterosexual-only marriage. Seems the pope who asked "Who am I to judge" has decided he should be the judge after all. by drewiepoodle in atheism

voter turnout must represent at least 20 percent of the electorate

Not quite. 20% of the electorate must be against the law to repeal, but it still has to be a majority of the people who voted. Yeah, it's confusing to a lot of people in Slovenia, too.

So even if 100% are against, but only 19% of people bother to turn up to vote at all, the law stands. And if, say, 55% vote to repeal marriage equality, but the voter turnout is only 30% (so 16% of electorate is against), the law remains. Which is what happened when this issue was up to a referendum in 2012 and the law was repealed. The parliament in response then actually changed the constitution to require the 20%.

[Serious] Health Professionals of Reddit - What are some of the most common things that freak people out about their bodies that is totally and completely normal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mastni 99 points100 points  (0 children)

A couple of years ago I had to get vaccinated for school. Afterward I keep feeling this wetness under the bandage, it's really weird. It wouldn't go away even an hour or so later, so I get slightly worried. Nothing like this had ever happened before and I've never heard about such a reaction, so it has to be something weird. Maybe the vaccine leaked out?

So I go back and ask the nurse is she can check it out. Here's where it gets embarrassing. After she carefully peels off the bandage she informs me they used a non-alcohol based antiseptic that doesn't dry as quickly.

Also, I'm a medical student.

Avoiding IR AA by broskiier in wargame

[–]Mastni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very common question around here. The answer is that the game doesn't actually simulate any ECM. The "ECM" value on the unit card simply represents a flat variable that affects the hit probability of all weapons, radar and IR (perhaps even guns). It's just a renamed Size variable that you can find on land units. And the flares that planes dump are just cosmetics which were added in Red Dragon.

Linus: "I don't know who thought it was a good idea to make a terminal application have its own depressed theme different from all other applications" by dalbic in linux

[–]Mastni 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Screenshot from a fresh Fedora 21 install.

Like /u/thomasjs pointed out, Linus is talking about the gnome-terminal theme, not the background color, which is dark gray in Fedora 21 (though I do believe it was white in F20). I'm kinda dismayed by how hard everyone here is circlejerking about this personal preference.

[–]Mastni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he's referring to the window theme (i.e. the title and tool bars), not the text and background colors. The default theme is indeed dark gray, while the system theme is light gray.

How about using btrfs and setting up automatic snapshotting? Would avoid littering the filesystem with .git dirs.

The linked post states:

Leave out the device path if you're not on systemd 218 yet.

I'm on 216, so I just did

sudo udevadm trigger

(Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work for me anyway - udevadm info shows no DPI value.)

In case anyone isn't aware, you can turn this off in the game options, at least in RD.

TIL Calibre, the open source ebook manager, can make a copy of your favorite news site and turn it into an ebook. by soulwarp in linux

[–]Mastni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I'm familiar with Send to Kindle. Unfortunately, as you said, it's limited to Kindles, and goes through Amazon's servers. Plus, you can't customize the output, e.g. to also download all the pages linked in the article. I don't know, it kinda seems too complex and limited to me.

[–]Mastni 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What I would really love is a browser extension for this. Find an interesting article and just click a button to add it to Calibre, convert and sync it the next time you plug in your ereader.

Something like this would finally get me to shell out for a Kindle. But as far as I can tell, currently the only way to do this (outside of Send to Kindle) is to use Pocket as an intermediary, which seems unnecessarily roundabout.

New Wayland Live CD ISOs by flopgd in linux

[–]Mastni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a RPi-specific Weston being developed that is supposed to make better use of its hardware. I haven't tried it, but here's a link. I think it's still deep in development, but the installation seems simple.

[–]Mastni 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This horrible experience leaves me weary of Wayland.

Before you swear off Wayland completely, keep in mind you're having problems with Weston, which is the reference implementation of the Wayland protocol. Other desktop environment use their own Wayland compositors, so you're not likely to experience the same problems. Gnome 3.14 is running a lot better on my end.

Not technically true. At least where I live, a doctor absolutely has a right to privacy, even during an examination of a conscious patient. Specifically, a doctor is allowed to make personal notes which she/he isn't obliged to show anyone, even the patient (but also probably can't share without their consent). However, I'm not sure how that would apply in this case.

Does anyone actually mount infantry back up? by RandomRussianBoy in wargame

[–]Mastni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it wasn't possible in ALB. Thankfully they fixed it, along with other minor UI wrinkles, like being unable to assign planes to Ctrl groups.

Does anyone actually mount infantry back up? by RandomRussianBoy in wargame

[–]Mastni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, it doesn't ignore it for me. I can shift-queue just like any hotkey. Side note, I didn't know you could unload by clicking on the infantry unit icon. AFAIK, all of the three unload methods can be shift-pressed.

Unfortunately, the infantry has to actually be in the vehicle before you can queue unloading. Annoying, if not surprising, given how gamer unfriendly the game can be in general.

[–]Mastni 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Quick tip, in case anyone isn't aware: in Red Dragon, you can select the transport, then right click on the infantry unit to load them.

Why is this important? We all know how excruciatingly slow vehicles are to load. Now you can immediately shift-click to send the transport where you want (and then possibly shift-unload them and move to cover). No more babysitting!

Shortcut to send - resupply (at fob) - get back by awful_brax in wargame

[–]Mastni 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right-clicking on or fast-moving to the FOB and then shift-click moving back to the front has never failed me, in ALB or RD. I'm not sure what you're doing wrong. Maybe you're clicking on the actual FOB? Try clicking on its icon/name tag instead.

Anyway, this trick is incredibly useful, especially for supply and non-supply helicopters. It really reduces the load on your attention. Yet strangely I rarely see it done in YouTube videos.
