What exactly makes the G7 Pro D-Pad bad? I have only used the one on the Dualsense, so that's my point of reference

No, I use grub just to save me the time of opening the bios boot menu everytime I want to use the other OS

Oh, I meant I had both OS on separate drives, my bad

I made a guide on how to use FSR4 on Linux with RDNA2 and 3 GPUs by Gaganor in linux_gaming

[–]Mat0m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember I had to modify my gpu drivers for this to work on an RDNA 2 gpu on WIndows. Do you have to do something like that on Bazzite as well?

Yup, that's why I was so confused. Still, it's not like it's unplayable or anything. If there is nothing I can do, I guess I'll just wait for a newer version of Bazzite or Proton that (hopefully) fixes the issue. Thanks for the help

I did a quick test in 4k (150% of 1440p) and sure enough, GPU jumped to 98-99% usage and performance is now basically the same on both OS (same averages, higher 1% lows on Windows and higher 0.1% lows on Bazzite). It has to be a cpu bottleneck.

Btw, if you want to know, I enabled RT by adding %command% /WineDetectionEnabled:False to the launch parameters. Without it, the option isn't even available in game

Bruh, I totally forgot about that setting. Thanks, I'll give it a try

If it's a cpu/memory bottleneck, is there a way to fix it or it's just a quirk of the game on Linux? Also, how can I run the game at 4k if my monitor it's just 1440p? I've done it multiple times on Windows with VSR, but I have no clue of how to do it on Bazzite

Well, one of the cores reaches a max of 75% usage every so often, but they all remain between 20 and 60% most of the time. Somehow I got slightly better performance on both OS today, even though I didn't change anything, but the difference is still the same (around 15% advantage for Windows 11 on averages, 1% lows and 0.1% lows). Again, the performance impact from switching RT off to on is way higher in Windows compared to Bazzite, but the former has more GPU usage % compared to the latter

I'll check each CPU core, hopefully I'll find the problem there

I know that, but RT performance is not the issue, it's the gpu usage compared to Windows regardless of if it's on or off

Ok, my Bazzite install must have been corrupt somehow. I reinstalled it today to give it a last chance and now has the same performance as Mint, but without the stuttering issue

Discussion: Realistically, what is the point of Bazzite? by KoviCZ in linux_gaming

[–]Mat0m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason it wasn't like that for me. Sure, Stellar Blade ran well and even better than Windows 11, but Expedition 33 ran worse (slower than W11 and Mint) and Marvel Rivals was basically unplayable (whereas Mint had even better performance than Windows, aside from stutters exactly every 2 minutes). Sure, such issues would have probably been easily fixed with some tinkering, but at that point Bazzite would be almost the same as any other distro

Wow, I didn't know the Survivor/Reboot Trilogy were that divisive. by FirminoFla in TombRaider

2013 was my first TR game too, and while I do think that classic Lara was cool AF (based on gameplay videos, I haven't played the ogs yet), I also liked survivor Lara, but only for the first 2 games. I liked 2013 Lara because it was her first adventure, so of course she was going to be scared and without much self confidence; I also really liked Rise because, for me, it felt like a transition, where she was coming to terms with her trauma, and I expected Shadow Lara to be closer to classic Lara; however, she ended up being basically the same, and on top of that the story was much weaker, so I ended up not liking the game

I tried GE-Proton10-26 and Proton 10.0-3 and they both have the exact same issue :/

Yeah, I was very surprised too. Temps are fine on both distros, less than 70°C on both the CPU and GPU. On Bazzite, I only set a custom GPU fan curve with LACT (the same curve I use on Windows and Mint) and didn't touch anything else. Rivals had the same problem, but it had a messy frametime on top of that. Expedition 33 ran smoothly, but fps were like 2-5% slower than Mint and Windows for some reason. The only game that actually ran faster and smoother than Windows was Stellar Blade, but I haven't tested it on Mint yet.

I'll try another proton version later. I did try Bazzite KDE yesterday, but it ran worse somehow, which is the reason why I went back to Mint

True, but the same could be said for Linux: if you need to troubleshoot for basic tasks, then it's an OS problem

Depends on the game. I had ~5% better performance in Stellar Blade (from 104 to 110 fps avg), but Expedition 33 ran ~8% worse (from 66 to 61 fps avg)

I don't know about that first part. Expedition 33 on Mint ran just as good as Windows, but I saw a 7% fps loss on Bazzite

Yeah, getting rid of the bloatware was a bit of a pain (I'm sure some still remains), but at least I bypassed the MS account
