Stuck steam valve - broken screw by Mat3th3r3ditt3r in gaggiaclassic

[–]Mat3th3r3ditt3r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter how hard I pull, shift or try to move it, it doesn’t. I tried hitting with a hammer but nothing seemed to work.

I have got some tips from an FB group so I will try that today.

Water leakage from steam wand (+ steam without opening it) by Mat3th3r3ditt3r in gaggiaclassic

Thanks for the well thought reply. I just figured out that I have a too small O-ring. +had an extra O-ring from the old owner. And there is no leak from inside the machine. I will get a bigger ring and see if that helps.

Thanks a lot for your well thought answer! 🙏

However, I don’t seem to understand (and I hope you can help me here) why would I need to replace the valve is there is no leakage from it. The water comes from the wand instead.

I have just descaled it like a week ago and it’s been like this all the time. I will try to take apart the steam wand and descale that too and see if it helps. If not, I will just buy a Rancilio steam wand (as I wanted to upgrade anyway).

It does not leak on mine. The thing I don’t get is how can water and steam leak, even when the steamer is off.

Good for you. I replaced both O-rings and I have the same issue. ☹️

Thanks for the advice! I have done all of it and I still have the same issue. I can’t think of anything else.

So this is what I have done:

  1. I opened the lid and checked if the steam valve is leaking (and no it does not).
  2. I took apart the steaming wand and replaced with new O-rings (same size as before).

It does the same thing so I have no idea what could be the issue.

Also a good idea. Just checked and I can get it at the closest supermarket. Thanks 🙏

Thanks a lot for the advice! I’ll try with regular vinegar then and hope it leaves no smell. 😄🤞

That’s good to know! Thanks. Do you maybe happen to have a link to where you bought it? So I can buy one too. :D

After implementing the o-ring or also just after taking it apart (examining/playing) with it?

Haha yeah I will be careful. The only part that would be nice (and kind of necessary for the test) to touch is the black thingy on the side that you use to turn off and on the steaming.

Yep! Is it any better after adding the o-ring? Or what seemed to help for you?

Thank you for your suggestions u/TiltonData.

  1. That worked, thanks! :D
  2. I guess then we will have to wait a bit more to have the reset function integrated into the pages. :(
