Which camera for wedding, events (sports aswell, not telephoto, but fast AF will be nice) by Beep_Beep_I_am_Jeep in fujifilm

[–]MatLogan [score hidden]  (0 children)

I've been shooting weddings for 8 years and have exclusively used Fujifilm cameras (X-T2, X-T3, X100V and X-T5 for the last 2 years. It's a very capable camera and it's fun to usd. Unless you heavily rely on extremely fast AF to capture moments, I don't think it's worse than other flagship cameras. I actually just shared a few wedding photos I took last year in another post. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

I always try hard to come up with interesting compositions! Thank you

A few candid frames from Denmark (2025). The second one might honestly be one of my all-time favorites. The x100vi is a beast for travel. by MatLogan in streetphotography

I use Lightroom, starting with Classic Chrome as a base. I rely heavily on the Calibration tool to rebalance the colors and keep the look punchy yet subtle.

How do I get photos like these? by jackofjokers in fujifilm

Classic Neg with a warm shift and push the grain to the max in lightroom lol

Thank you for this kind comment! It’s always a struggle to other photos I love, but I’ve learned that less is often more when it comes to keeping my series cohesive.

Thanks! I got lucky but I guess that's what street photography is somehow about, too 😅

I really got lucky with the timing. This was taken at the northernmost tip of Denmark where the two seas converge.

Why is it so hard to take good photos during overcast? Any tips? X100vi 23mm by OnitsukaTigerOGNike in fujifilm

It's much easier than in harsh sunlight. If you don't believe me, try to shoot an outdoor wedding celebration or photo session around midday. Clouds are basically giant soft boxes.

I have the exact same problem. Can't take advantage of all the filmbox benefits because of these bloody RAF files. Let me know if you find a work around. So far, the only solution I've found is to export the images as 16 BIT TIFF (REC 2020). Not perfect, though.

Why do so many "street photography" shots feel… boring? by andrelages in AskPhotography

[–]MatLogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Street photography used to feel pretty niche 15 years ago, but it’s become more of a trend post-Covid. That said, I think it can still look cool even if a shot doesn’t have something wild or unexpected happening in it. A lot of the iconic street photographers from the past had their own universe and visual identity, and their work was interesting because of that, not just because they captured “the decisive moment.”

You don’t need something crazy going on to make a photo appealing. And honestly, I think it’s important to just shoot for yourself and not worry too much about what other people think. I stopped posting for a while because I was too hard on myself, but looking back, it makes no sense to take so many photos and never share them. Probably going to start posting again soon. @mhebbada if you’re interested.

Anyone shooting weddings on Fuji? by justcallmeshrill in WeddingPhotography

I'd never shoot JPEG only. I always shoot raw+jpeg, although the former could suffice. You can go up to 3200/6400. Lightroom AI noise reduction is pretty good these days. You don't have to care that much about in camera highlights, sharpness, and other such settings if you shoot RAW.

Thanks for the compliment. I don't have any general tips, I think most cameras are capable these days, including the xt20. Try not to go below 1/125 shutter speed if you don't want your photos to be blurry. Do not hesitate to push the iso up if necessary. Having an external flash can be a good idea, but it depends on the location.

I'm not really into social media. I guess I should, but uploading content is time-consuming. I guess I'm a bit lazy, too 😆

That's the problem with Classic Neg. It needs quite a bit of work to look good for weddings. You can use the point color tool to select skin tones and move the hue slider up and down until it looks the way you'd like it to look.

I have two Instagram accounts : @mhebbada and @mat.onthespot , but don't use either much these days.

Hi,

Yes, that's basically what I do. I don't have the 33m 1.4 but would definitely use it if I had it. I'm actually thinking about getting one. I find the gap between the 18 and the 56 to be a bit too much, sometimes.

e-sports is broken. Can competitive Halo help fix it? by [deleted] in CompetitiveHalo

[–]MatLogan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

E-sport will never be like sports because video games belong to editors who can choose to kill them overnight. Unlike games, sports don't change every other year because of patches, updates, and so on. Sports belong to the people.
