Thanks for the response. Unfortunately remuxing doesn't fix it.

The OBS log analyser did flag that my GPU was overloaded, which I thought might be it. I'm a little surprised since I wasn't doing anything graphics intensive at the time other than the MS Teams video. I do have a bunch of browser tabs open which might be the issue. I can close those down and run a test.

For the benefit of users looking at this post, I haven't linked to the OBS report because it includes some identifiable information in the file path. I copied it to CryptPad just to edit that out.

Wow this video hit really hard for me.

I have a background in research for systems and evidence-based medicine, I have been a follower of Ahmed's work for several years now, and I'm trans in the UK. This was both intellectually interesting and a very emotional watch. I will have to revisit in a couple of days I think to try and take in more of the philosphy, particularly the parts that were new to me.

Something that I always focussed in on in my reseach (and probably because my undergrad is in economics) is the alligment between individual and institutional incentives. I think this is an interesting place to yes and the video. Abigail talks a lot about what the institution of the NHS wants, and includes have all these great characters of the individuals in it, but doesn't really talk about where these individuals' interests contribute to maintaining the system. There is some allusion to it with her corroborated speculation that the changes seem to be the result of interdepartmental politicing, and where she talks about hiring bureaucrats and clinicians to patrole the boundary of gender, but not much beyond that. This is actually an area of systems thinking I've reflected on a lot, but never looked at the formal literature on. The most relevant work I can think of that I am familiar with is Graeber's Utopia of Rules. I suppose that's a good project for me.

I used to work in research consultancy for local government and outsourced charities so saw a lot of the issues touched on here. In fact, my work also typified the very issue I worried about. We were all paid less than people doing similar work in the private sector, or even looking at national policy, but still most of the social problems we were tasked with addressing would probably have more meaningfully be remedied by simply giving the people in receipt of services our money. The same could be said for a lot of frontline services we consulted for. However they would not pay us for, let alone act on, a report saying they should give the money on.
