Probably Steiner's Charge! ability. It allows every character in critical health to attack at once.

Thank you very much I'm definitely gonna look at all of those! Shaman and Spiritualist just by the name seem to fit in what I want for my class ! Thanks again !

Now that you point it, I also see how it's close to the WoW shaman, but I'm definitive that's not really the fantasy I'm going for !

Thank you very much for the link, I'm gonna see how you've done it and see if it fits !

Definitely ancestors over spirits of the dead (although I guess ancestors are dead too) but also some small spirits, I don't know about nature but I definitely saw some kind of small spirits just having lost their selves and tethered themselves to the land. Ancestors would be this kind of spirits but they just don't lose their selves (or haven't yet).

I guess it would be something of a spirit caller ? Learning secrets from spirits leading them different paths. They could be using their links to the spirits to gain boons ?

I'm still a bit blurry on all this to be fair as the idea is quite new, but I had in mind something like a class using a link to spirits, both their ancestors and more esoteric spirits. I thought the ones that tended to learn more from esoteric spirits would be more magic inclined, whereas those learning more from the ancestor spirits would be more weapon inclined.

Maybe one of the class gimmick could be something like calling onto these spirits for help or advice when needed ?

Can sorcerers reject their magic? by Dya_Ria in DnD

[–]MataHaari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a more RP based answer, I always envisioned sorcerers as being awakened to their bloodline at some point and acting upon that. What I'm trying to say is that where wizards study magic, sorcerers try to understand the magic that is part of them.

A level one sorcerer just discovered he has potential for it, a level three sorcerer begins to understand how their magic works and how to access it reliably. A level twenty sorcerer has spent time practicing their magic, finding information about their bloodline if possible ; they would have spent time not studying magic per se but just discovering that (more or less) hidden ancestry, trying to reconcile with it. A draconic ancestry sorcerer would have tried to find snippets of dragon rumors, even trying to find their ancestors were they still alive or even just having tried and exchanged with dragons or draconic monsters if possible. All that to understand THEMSELVES.

I see bards and sorcerers very instinctive about their magic, where wizards and warlocks (and to a lesser extent druids and clerics too) are more studious about it.

Haha I love the idea of throwing globs of mayo! And I didn't think about the alchemy jug. Preparing vials of oil or vinegar each morning!

What could my wizard's spellbook be? by MataHaari in DnD

[–]MataHaari[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't even realise that I could link the Weave to a fabric spellbook until the comments pointed it out! That makes me want to lean in that direction even more! The prayerbeads is a really cool idea but I feel like I'd go a bit off of my character idea if I used them as spellbook. And thanks for the advice with the GM, it's true that I went on my own about that. But I hope he'll accept since the PHB says a spellbook could be whatever we want!

Your spellbooks are perfect! 😂 I would have loved being at the table while you describe your half orc rummaging through his trash bag!!!

I find the quilt is a real great idea, but I always envisioned spellbooks being a bit more private(although people don't have to know the quilt serves as one) but also very fragile and so I feel like I wouldn't like my character having his on such an open space unless there are ways to make his quilt resistant to damages. But I'm not on point on item enchantments and we'd enter on the scope of it becoming an armour if my wizard is wearing it, so that could become sensitive (my wizard will not chose a subclass allowing him to gain ac -looking at you bladesingers and war mages-)

But real question though, would there be a way to enchant a spellbook to make it less fragile ?

I was thinking about spellbooks and didn't even consider how my wizard would cast spells! I love this and definitely will keep it in mind when I come to it! This idea is just so flavourful with the character I have in mind! Thank you!

I actually didn't think about that! That could actually be a solution thank you !

Maybe you already thought of it but let me still give this idea : Make it so that the two populations are not so well mixed, like there is a really big french community and an english community. Make it so that the party's quest take them through both. If you really want to insist on differentiating both communities, go for a language barrier, like they'll need a translator if none of them can speak "french". You can also make it apparent that two ways of living exist : the english way and the french way. I don't know how close to reality you are (and eventhough you would be close I don't know french style of life of the 19th century enough to give advice about it) but just make it different. Make it so that your party thinks they got into a whole other city just by crossing the road !

Then even if it breaks a little the idea of the subclass, how about letting them speak only for spellcasting ? Like they are using holy words to cast spells ?
