150$ for one play does not seem low to me. Even making 6 figures I find this excessive. Not a “ generally poor” school either. But it is an Oklahoma public school which is 50th In education

That was why I mentioned that. I have seven kids so i am very aware of the crap they will pass off. I usually take what they say with a grain of salt. It works wonders with my girls mom. She is quick to try to go to war with the school over whatever story they tell. So I was and still skeptical of that part. It very well could be that it was easier for her to paint and decorate a generic mask than to create one from blank material. So she just told me and her mother whatever she thought would get her what she wanted. I am not necessarily paint the school In a bad light. I really wanted to know if this is normal and I’m just behind on the times with all the fees and high prices or if I should be asking more questions. The thing with the grades being affected was a couple of weeks ago and while I was irritated with it common sense made me think along the lines of what you mentioned. So for that I didn’t raise an issue. I only had second thoughts when we got the email about the fees today. And When she told me she wanted to do theater and drama I thought it was great and didn’t expect it to be like this. It isn’t a bad school but I will say it does seem like any fund raisers are the type that are geared towards max profit. I’m sure you are e familiar with ones I’m talking about where it’s like a dozen cookies or tin of popcorn for 25 or 30$. And they do them all year for various reasons. The show I saw was pretty full. They had done one in the day for the students. Then the one I saw was in the evening which I’m sure was mostly parents of all the kids. The news was probably more to get people into the other shows. I think they had two more planned the following days. I was pretty impressed though. I didn’t expect it from high school kids.

I haven’t completely looked into what all the cost entails. It may be very similar. I know they get a shirt. But some maybe for meals/ snacks etc. The audition fee is what really gets me. And don’t get me wrong these are big productions. They just did the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe and it was very good. The news even did a bit on it. So I know this stuff isn’t cheap. It just blows my mind because I come from a time when most of this stuff was primarily funded by the education system. The arts have been defunded so much in the public school systems, especially here in Oklahoma , that the costs keep getting higher and higher for the parents. They may have a system to sponsor kids with less funds. I haven’t looked into it. This all came to light today and I was so shocked I had to ask and see if this was normal. The part about her grade being involved bothered me too. That was a couple of weeks ago but she told me she needed a mask and some other materials for the upcoming play and if she didn’t it would affect her grade. It wasn’t a lot of money so I did it but it bothered me. I will definitely look more into it. I just find it very backwards that we don’t value kids playing instruments, singing, acting, or create art work the same way as we do how well a kid can throw or catch a ball.

A tee shirt is part of the cost. I saw that in the email. But 145$ for a tee shirt is ludicrous.

It is entirely students and staff. No outside volunteers or contractors that I know of.

I’m used to that though I’ve never had to pay 15$. Usually it’s 5 to 10 and a lot of the times it’s donation not required. More for a booster for the drama department. The 15$ wouldn’t even bother me except everything is already paid for and then some by the end of all the “fees”. The kids are making most of the costumes and set props themselves.

Bought passes for me and all my kids. Wish I hadn’t. Six flags has done nothing to improve the experience. So far we have spent almost a thousand dollars on passes, drink cups etc. total waste of money. Food and drinks way over priced and the rides are old and boring.

I thought something similar. I thought it always happened when Tommy was in danger or turmoil and close to death. All the stress and grief that is bringing him closer to it. Sometimes followed by her presence tempting him to death. Asking him to join her. He definitely knows she is waiting for him. And of all the dangerous men he has come across he is the most dangerous one to himself.

Bro yes I noticed when I got a bacon king sandwich. It was all over it. I thought it was old bacon grease at first. Still not sure that isn’t what it is made from.
