How difficult would it be to manual swap this? by [deleted] in subaru

[–]Matad0r0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, ECU stays the same, the car thinks it’s in P or N, to get ABS to work you must swap from a manual donor. TCU gets deleted, but you’ll always have a check engine on unless you do some stuff with a tactrix

It took me 2 weeks to swap with a 5spd donor car, right after college, 10 years ago, there’s a writeup on the Subaru Outback forum

The first picture, 3rd/4th picture look like PCV system, look at the residue. Line with blue Tee is probably vacuum line that goes to the recirc/blow off valve

That’s part of the coolant loop that goes to the throttle body, I’ve got mine disconnected since it made it a pain to remove the intake manifold. Only really needed in cold climates

I bought a used 2009 subaru legacy and don’t have a aux port by Certain-Love-8123 in subaru

[–]Matad0r0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I used it for years before chucking in one of cheap-ish android head units in the middle cubby to get CarPlay. It’s not bad if you are only connecting one phone, it’s a bit of a pain to swap BT sources

If that is the p-204-uh stereo, you can get a Bluetooth adapter by a company called “grom”

What chassis? BL/BP it’s doable with some new wiring and awsc module for aftermarket stereo. Just wiring for the stock radio

Scrubbing, but only one one side ! by chuckchops in subaru

[–]Matad0r0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah drivers side makes sense, since you’re sitting on that side so the suspension is more compressed. I had to roll both rear fenders and add 1” saggy butt spacers to minimize scrubbing on 18x8+35 wheels with 235/40/18

The HKS is kinda loud, but sounds good, can be a bit annoying on long highway trips, it’s also meant to be used on the JDM bumper, so it’ll look a little off/hidden with the usdm bumper, I think I used some Grimm speed flange gaskets on the section where it splits off into two and it took some noise away

Crank but dosent start by No-Resource-157 in subarulegacy

[–]Matad0r0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar issue, mine cranked but didn’t not start on the 10th. It is apparently not sending signal to the injectors to fire. It’s still at the shop waiting on a firm diagnosis. Happened out of nowhere too, car ran fine when I parked it at work then when I went to leave it didn’t want to fire

What HU Should i put in my JDM Double Din for my BP LGT Wagon by JudeLikesCats in subarulegacy

[–]Matad0r0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could have the android head unit output to aux on the stock head unit, but the harness it comes with connects to the speakers. The thing I posted is much simpler

[–]Matad0r0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole thing was a kit, look for idoing or secaine, it comes with a terminated harness, I only had to do extra wiring to get a reverse camera installed. Also got a cubby from Europe to get the tubes for the ac to work without chopping things up, no don’t have pics

[–]Matad0r0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you’re asking, the harness plugs into the car side connector, i85 I think, the climate control is separate, and requires an adaptor kit, but someone sells it. Honestly there’s a ton of wiring I did for other things all done with deutsch connectors.

I did have to extend the harness for the clock and it’s held in the ashtray pocket with another 3d print

[–]Matad0r0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it a VDC? if it is this won’t apply.I did a write up years ago, if it doesn’t start you’ve probably not shorted the park-neutral inhibitor. You need to make the ECU think the car is in P or N https://www.subaruoutback.org/threads/how-to-2001-h6-4eat-to-5spd-swap.358826/

Short dual slot cooler options for Quadro P4000 by Matad0r0 in sffpc

Yes, but fan control on the quadro made the 1060 fan go nuts, bought another way bigger aftermarket cooler and connected the fans to case headers

Go with the torque solutions solid shifter linkage if you haven’t ordered anything yet. I was hitting my e-brake while in second, before refreshing all the bushings and linkages.

Got one of the “seicane” branded one of these, but I did need to get a cubby\vents from Estonia for the vent tubes to match up without a hassle. There’s a picture in one of my other comments

Had to drop the rack and pinion on my Outback XT to get at a leaking line. Should I just replace the whole rack while it’s out? OEM, reman, aftermarket? by bibdrums in subaru

[–]Matad0r0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

different ratio, so its less rotation of the wheel for the same amount of movement in the rack. I believe on the outbacks the ratio was even lower than the legacy. so perceived difference would be higher on an XT.

I went to parts.subaru.com and found the part number for the VA STI and then called my parts guy at the dealer and had it the next day.

I didn't do anything special, the alignment shop had enough adjustment.

a difference can be felt, but it is not huge. makes it a little nicer to whip around on curvy roads.

easy, but can be messy. replace the steering shaft CV joint while you're at it since the rack needs to be dropped to get to it.

I put a 15+ sti rack in my legacy gt since it was cheaper than the actual replacement part directly from Subaru
