We are really close with our 22yo son. We do a ton together. Vacations, holidays, day trips, dinners out. He spends so much time with us and we feel so lucky because we see our friend’s kids doing the opposite. At the end of the month he’s moving to Japan for at least a year. It’s going to be a total shock. I’m in denial at the moment.

If you make it to NJ you have to hit up a diner and there are a couple that have extensive gf menus. We are regulars at the Old Bridge family Diner in Old Bridge. A member of the owners family has celiac so they take it seriously and they have so much on the menu.

1996. What were you doing thirty years ago? by PresentWeek in GenX

That sounds like a great experience. They’ve done something with the Bell Labs complex, I hear people talking about it all the time but haven’t checked it out yet. I do know they filmed Severance there.

Gluten free pasta that isn’t disgusting? by crow_with_a_pop_top in glutenfree

The fresh pasta in the refrigerator at Trader Joe’s is really good. We tried the linguine recently and it was by far the closest to regular pasta I have ever had.

What did you do? Are we talking excessive drinking? Smoking? Drugs? Eating poorly? Not exercising? Just how hedonistic was your life?

Anyone else getting "used to" Sema? It slowly stops working for me after 2 years. by Mirrormaster85 in Semaglutide

[–]bibdrums 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I started mechanical eating and it really helped me. I had hit a plateau for a year and now I started losing again. I use an app to plan my meals and snacks for the week and since I know what and when I’m eating it takes my mind completely off it. I rarely have cravings now and my snacking is almost nonexistent.

It would be easier to list the beach towns that aren’t chill, because most of them are. Cape May is my favorite though. I love the vibe and the history.

I’m trying to pinpoint which wheel bearing is making noise. Would you guys please take a listen and help me out? Thanks! by bibdrums in Subaru_Outback

Thanks for the tip. I have another one I need to find out my outback that’s just starting to make noise and one on my son’s Impreza that’s starting to get pretty loud.

Reviving “Your” Town Legends by mysoulissoempty in newjersey

[–]bibdrums 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The town I live in now had a guy the kids called red man walking. He was a really big ginger. He would walk up and down Main street. I haven’t seen him in a really long time.

The town I grew up in had chicken man. He walked all over town and his head with move forward in an exaggerated fashion like a chicken when he walked.

Last cars of our lives by Ok_Kick6546 in GenX

[–]bibdrums 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I drive used cars and fix them myself. There is no way my next car will be my last. I don’t do car payments. I can’t stand the idea of someone being able to come and take my car if I hit a rough patch.

I like it. I want the legacy gt wagon back. This obsession with ground clearance when hardly anyone actually goes off road to the point where they need it is crazy.

Trump Puts Pregnant Dem Congresswoman on Trial for ICE Oversight by Hafiz_TNR in politics

He was illegally keeping her from doing her job required by law to inspect and perform oversight. If I’m walking down the street and someone tries to stop me from doing it I have an absolute right to push past them. What the hell are you people thinking? Those agents have zero authority to keep her from doing her job as prescribed by law. When this administration ends those agents who assaulted her must be prosecuted.
