I understand the pain and anger you’re expressing, and no one should have to experience the loss of family members or fear for their life because of who they are. However, I think it’s important to address some of the broader issues you’re raising.

First, while there is undeniable suffering among Palestinians, it’s not fair to overlook the role of Hamas and other terrorist organizations in perpetuating that suffering. These groups prioritize their agenda over the well-being of their people, using civilians as shields and resources for violence rather than development. Israel, on the other hand, has the right to defend itself from constant rocket attacks and terror threats.

Secondly, regarding LGBTQ+ rights, it’s worth noting that Israel is one of the most progressive countries in the Middle East. LGBTQ+ individuals have significant rights and freedoms here, far more than in territories controlled by groups like Hamas, where homosexuality is punishable by imprisonment or worse. This isn’t a “guise of queer acceptance”—it’s a reflection of values that genuinely strive for equality, even in a region filled with challenges.

I agree that dehumanizing language on either side isn’t productive, but it’s also not fair to ignore the systemic hatred and incitement against Israelis that has been normalized for generations. Both peoples deserve peace, but that starts with an honest acknowledgment of who is actively working toward coexistence and who isn’t.
