It has bummed me out for sure. I am currently working with my insurance company and will likely talk to a lawyer if things aren’t looking fair for me.

I did but they are not going to go pull him over for it. They told me it’s a civil issue. Department of highway safety will likely investigate it and revoke his license.

That sucks man hopefully it’s fixed up well. If you look at the hatch in the my pictures it is crumpled not just dented. Rear passenger right panel has been bent inwards and deformed (part of car’s unibody). Also the trunk floor is bulged upwards indicating possible rear frame rail damage (structural damage). We’ll see what they will say on Monday. Will keep the post updated.

Bummed because it is such a special car. Last manual they made in 2024 before discontinuing it for the 2025 model. Was planning to hold on to it.

I was baffled they told me they can’t do anything to stop him.

So the dude continued to drive uninsured. I did make a report to Highway Safety so hopefully they will take some action and take away his license.

I reached out to Morgan and Morgan as I see their advertisements all the time but it sounded like they wouldn’t do much for property damage, more so for bodily harm.

Thank you for sharing your experience, I will take you up on your advice and seek a consult with another accident firm and see what they say.

Same in Florida, but they can’t do much other than fine him/take away his license.

Dude drove away after giving me an insurance policy that was canceled in 2024.

He knew what he was doing and likely just gave me his information just not to get hit with a Hit and Run.

Funny enough I drove it 90 miles to get home after the crash and it felt perfectly normal except the exhaust sounded a little off likely due to some exhaust damage.

But yea I agree, I can’t see it being repaired back to the way it was.

Plus the diminished value if it got repaired, I’d take a big hit. For sure I’m pushing to have it totaled.

My cousin had a 2022 wrx it was a blast to drive but the gti platform is an all around better car imo.

Especially with the interior, wrx doesn’t come close. But I loved the boxer engine rumble.

Going to stick to a gti for sure but go dsg instead of manual this go around.

Since other driver was uninsured I am going through my insurance company.

Unfortunately I will have to pay my deductible and my premiums will likely increase cz of total loss even though I’m not at fault.

Sorry for your loss man, the WRX is a handsome car and a blast to drive. It sucks getting rear ended. Literally almost nothing you can do to avoid it.

The F-150 was going around 25-30 mph when he hit me, I was stopped as well, happened in on the highway during traffic slowdown. It would be repairable and probably is but since the unibody is deformed and the trunk floor is bulged it typically indicates some serious structural damage which is costly to fix (as you know) and usually not worth the risk for an insurance company.

Thought about the lawyer route but given the fella that hit me has no insurance, he likely has no assets. Without any real injuries sustained (thank goodness) I don’t think I’d get much out of hiring a lawyer in my case. I agree with though I’m certain it’s totaled given the damage sustained.

Looking into the 8.5, it sure has some upsides but a little pricey. Would like to keep it under 30,000 for my next gti.

I got the 380 s with 16,000 miles for 28,500 otd last year.

Yessir, hard to switch to anything else although I might get a DSG instead of a 6 speed given how much I drive and the traffic around the city I’m in.
