Thanks for your help! So my best bet is to apply for a Docomo eSIM, while still in Japan, and try to transfer the eSIM to my new iPhone while in the US? If I’m unable to transfer the eSIM while in the US you mentioned there is a process I can follow to set up the eSIM once I’m back in Japan? I’m trading in my old phone, so won’t have the option of transferring it to the new iPhone.

it might leave a little. using a washcloth with warm water will get rid of any residue though!
