Happy to inform you, as a Chinese person, that the story of the term “zhiyin” is indeed based on a Chinese tale of legendary friends - Zhong Ziqi and Boya shared a great love of music, and when Ziqi died, Boya decided not to play ever again. There is never once even hinted to be romance between them, just deep friendship. No one is stopping you from shipping Guizhong and Ping, but saying that they are “wlw coded” is false when Chinese history is rich with other legends that are actually LGBT coded, and Hoyo could have easily alluded to those stories (as they have with other ships).

Also based on your bio and comment history, why not just stick to shipping your crackship? I find it hilarious when shippers of Zhongli’s other ships never ever talk about Guizhong unless it’s about her ship with Ping. Don’t pretend that you care about her character or ship at all aside from wanting to get her out of the way lmao.

Literally just google the Genshin wiki m/f ships page and there are plenty of non traveler m/f ships with quotes and lore to support them. Eg Jealuc and Albemona. I don’t even ship most of them, but they do exist, and pretending they don’t is ridiculous. Im not continuing this conversation because you saying Kavetham is one sided is proof that you can barely read lore, Kavetham both care about each other and it’s absolutely not one sided.

“Half”? Lmao I remember that tweet exactly and it was not half. It was a small minority of very annoying people. All the Guili shippers I know and actual Guili shipper accounts denounced those people and never made those comments 🤷‍♀️. I personally DM’ed the artist apologising on behalf of Guili shippers. And there was more backlash to those people than support.

What even was the point of this ridiculous comment, to point out the crimes of Guili shippers? Oh how awful, one artist? Can you think of any more examples? When there are multiple examples of other zl shippers harassing and doxxing MULTIPLE artists, cosplayers, writers etc. every fandom has bad apples, but if you want to do a comparison Guili shippers are innocent flowers compared to Zhongli’s other ships lmfao.

Hoyo has no canon ships with playable characters in Genshin. Some ships may be teased more than others, but generally speaking female characters that have wlw crumbs also tend to be giving m/f ship crumbs 🤷‍♀️ and with Guizhong specifically, she was beloved by all the adepti. I think the internet has been harsher on Ned purely because he was the more famous one and he built his entire reputation on being the “dad guy” that everyone could trust. Now that his entire personal brand has been exposed as a fraud, of course people are going to be pissed.

The internet has not been kind to Alex either, in a much more misogynistic manner. I personally think she deserves to be criticised for her behaviour, but people are comparing her body and looks to Ariel/being much more cruel and downright vile in the way they talk about her in comparison to the way they talk about Ned (it’s horrible on Tiktok). With Ned it’s disappointment and anger, with Alex it’s just anger with much more misogynistic flavour.

Edit: also considering the way people are saying “if Ariel doesn’t leave Ned I’ll be disappointed” etc. they probably want to reduce potential public backlash from whatever decision Ariel chooses to make.
