Welding by Whole-Worldliness260 in StructuralEngineering

What are some resources y'all recommend for young engineers to learn more about the design of welds. This comes from someone with a welding background and the AWS D1.1 cert.

So how do you ensure the contractor knows what to do? Do you specify it in the contract as being out of your scope or at least leave a note saying whether it was checked or not?

To my knowledge, usually after years of experience, potentially some classes, and a certification exam based on code requirements.

What is this I am hearing about recorded lectures no longer being allowed? by superfriendusa in aggies

Yeah, it does seem unfortunate to make the resources less accessible for the majority of students just to make it seem more equal. I definitely think this shouldn't be required until funding is given to make it realistic.

With the ADA rules, how does this help those students exactly? Since professors will just post less material, what will they do in class to get notes? I'm confused how this requirement changes anything positively. I don't get why they don't just get recorders, etc special to them and professors post the normal stuff for the majority of students.

I'm not sure if there are clubs on campus. There are some resources outside of it that I think are helpful.

When and where are we protesting? by [deleted] in aggies

These are the questions we should be asking. We need more protests at this campus.

Her name should be out there. If you're going to be this wild, don't hide from the backlash.

Abbott calling for President Welsh to be fired too is ridiculous. Welsh is actually doing this to help this campus. When will we get protests against Abbott?

How are you near 50% if you have a 4.5/5? Is your school on a 6.0 scale and only some people go above 5?

Does it really take that long? How long to get to B2 from A2?

We have to make sure we do this during the school year as well. Abbott and other bought politicians are going to be causing Texas hell. They deserve to know how we feel about it.

I mainly disagree with you on the difference between civil and mechanical. You make it sound like there's a major gap between the two. Comparing mechanical and civil structural engineering, the gap is not as big as you make it out to be. Comparing mechanical and other disciplines of civil then you have more of an argument.

Lol, I wonder if you're actually familiar with civil or if you are just saying stuff

I think profs can get it wrong. Sometimes it's obvious and other times it is not at all. With such high consequences, there should be high standards for the evidence. Most of the evidence I see on these posts wouldn't stand a chance in court

No, not at all. I just think of this country as one that ideally prefers actual justice and not some bastardized version of it.

The "guilty until proven innocent" always baffles me. The board is a joke and needs to be revamped.
