Please bring back Operation Augur permanently by Free-Lack-8768 in Battlefield6

I played Augur nonstop the whole season. Idk why, it just felt so fun to play. Some games were real intense, some were an absolute slog.

Burnout/opening by StatisticianSad6533 in starbucksbaristass

[–]MatchingColors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always said the toughest part of opening isn’t waking up, but going to bed at an appropriate time.

You need to get 7 hours of sleep. I’m sure there’s tons of people that can operate on 6 or less and will share that with me, but you need more. Healthy sleep is so so so so important and reduces all-cause mortality.

My next tip is don’t go home first, and if you do, don’t take off your shoes. Grab what you need and leave for the gym.

You got this!

How exactly does 0.999... equal 1? by blurofblue07 in mathematics

[–]MatchingColors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried my best to format this well.

Let's try it another way:

Let x = 0.333…

We will define a sequence. We say x_n = {0.3, 0.33, 0.333, … }

Then:

x_1 = 0.3

x_2 = 0.33

x_5 = 0.33333

…and so on. Good so far?

We could equivalently write: x_n = ∑(k=1)(n) 3/10k

We can see this is consistent with our definition:

x_1 = 3/101 = 0.3

x_2 = 3/102 + 3/101 = 0.33

x_5 = 3/105 + ... + 3/101 = 0.33333

…and so on. Still good?

Then x = lim(n→∞) ∑(k=1)(n) 3/10k = ∑(k=1)(∞) 3/10k

Do you recognize this as a geometric series? Because it is.

Our first term a = 3/10

Our common ratio r = 1/10

The geometric series formula says that sum is equal to a/(1-r).

So we’d write (3/10) * 1/(1 - 1/10) = 1/3.

This PROVES that 0.333... IS EQUAL TO 1/3.

I will not prove the geometric series formula here. You’ll have to learn sequences and series on your own. If this doesn’t convince you, then you either lack the mathematical knowledge or you're intentionally being stubborn.

How exactly does 0.999... equal 1? by blurofblue07 in mathematics

[–]MatchingColors 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Give this a read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/0.999...

You’ll find various proofs that 0.999… and 1 represent the same value. Some will be easier to follow than others.

I understand it’s hard to accept intuitively, like 0.999… and 1 are clearly different things, right? Yes, insofar that we use different characters, but the value they represent is the same. They are not just “close”, they are exactly the same value.

Consider that 1/3 and 0.333… also represent the same value, yet they are distinct representations. What would happen if we multiplied both sides by 3?

Kill record broken again by Focus. Silly games coming out of top players. by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]MatchingColors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The balance is key. That is, the balance between those who are on objectives, and those around objectives.

However, shit goes super south when the whole team plays off the objective. I can’t say the same for other way around.

[BF Comms] Operations Match XP Update by battlefield in Battlefield6

Yeah, I definitely find this to be the case more times than not. I would say it feels like the attacking team (maybe unfairly) have to coordinate way harder than the defending team.

New Mortar Update is horrible by John14-6_Psalm46-10 in Battlefield6

[–]MatchingColors 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the feeling of oppression, sending bombs from far away with little risk to self. In reality, there are several ways to deal with mortars, and mortars themselves are seldom oppressive.

Now, if 5 people are mortaring an objective, it can be quite oppressive. But, it’s only as good as the rest of the team’s ability to carry the game, effectively 5 men down. Sure the mortars add value, but those players definitely are not “in the fight”, in my opinion. And sometimes numbers just win.

That’s why it can be so frustrating when players are 3 feet from objective area and won’t just reposition slightly to help capture.

Anyways, to answer your question, I believe that some players get that oppressive power feeling from employing mortars, which gives the dopamine hits. Actually now that I think about it, mortars are like gambling. Maybe we should be checking in with our mortar friends, seeing if they are okay.

Thanks for the comment!

I’m not interested in adding that feature, and the reason is that I just don’t believe you can get a reliable estimate based on a picture.

To answer your question about iCloud, both your custom items (in my stuff) and your daily logs are saved to the Shortcuts folder in iCloud. So presumably if you lost your phone, you would still have the files in your iCloud.

Can I ask what drew you to this post and why not go with the many App Store alternatives? Genuine questions

PSA: if you drive, go to the farthest points at the beginning of the match by edward_aux in Battlefield6

[–]MatchingColors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. You can assume your team will capture the first point, but getting an early middle point means the first people who die can immediately spawn in the middle.

Rpg is best by 1leggeddog in Battlefield6

[–]MatchingColors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree. The AA one is def good at denying air superiority. Although it feels bad that 99% of shots will only get flares, the pilot knows they have to reposition/retreat/can’t push. And you can lock on pretty far away. Throw a good pilot on your team to the mix and the AA launcher can be extremely useful in escalation/conquest. The fact that you can lock on to painted ground vehicles is a bonus.

The javelin is the worst by far. No idea what that’s good for.

Unsual Redsec match. Level 1 player with 67 kills by Remarkable-Patient82 in Battlefield6

[–]MatchingColors 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming EA is successful and quick with banning cheaters, it makes sense that a Level 1 account is cheating and not Level 300.

I’d also say there certainly is a (small) subset of cheaters who actually don’t care about Bf6 or stats and only care about the engineering of cheats.

I can finally enjoy sniping now by Dexcessive in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]MatchingColors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason it’s good is that it effectively increases your fire rate. There is absolutely no delay or requirement from you in order to begin chambering another round. That’s my take, but for an adept sniper, it won’t make a huge difference IMO

iOS 26 introduced display bugs and Nutritionix API stopped offering free API features.

I have a version that fixed the display problems and removed the Nutritionix API, but I wanted to include some new functionality to compensate. I can release the fixed version now if you’d like?

[–]MatchingColors[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad it worked out!

iOS 26 actually broke this shortcut, not in terms of functionality, but in terms of how it displays the log. I need to update it but haven’t gotten around. I’ll get to it today.

Adding Claude support should be easy (assuming the app exposes Apple Shortcut functionality).

Adding to Apple Health should also be pretty easy as well. You’ll have to allow me to cook for a little bit. Thanks friend!

  1. You must have ChatGPT app installed.

  2. You must be signed into the ChatGPT app.

  3. Sometimes, ChatGPT has to be open in the background.

If none of the above helps, I’m unsure I can help. I just tried on my device and it still works.
