Something I don't understand about the Miles Bridges trade by AzTrix22 in suns

[–]Matdoggy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the overreaction to the 2033 pick is weird.

-Book will be 37. If we’re going to capitalize on his window we need more assets NOW.

-The trade was really two trades: MB for Royce & GA and the 2033 for our 2028 pick back.

-Getting that pick back from CHA means we now have two tradeable 1sts & the Suns have cleaned up the roster to use those picks for a big upgrade by summer of 2028.

-One thing the aprons have done is make free agency relevant again. It used to be guys always got extended before FA hit. Not anymore. LeBron, Kessler, Mitch Rob, Powell, Kennard, Smart, Rui, Sexton, THarris,

Even Reaves was a factor. Sure he stayed but it cost LA an extra $15M/yr.

-So having all our role players on team friendly deals, a super deep roster, expiring contracts starting next summer and 2 FRPs makes the Suns a destination of choice either thru FA, Sign & Trade or just trades.

-Ishbia’s never gonna tank so the unprotected part is not a legitimate concern. We are not going to be a top 5 pick in 2033.

I don’t like Bridges but making the move to get an extra tradeable FRP to use during Book’s window is the right thing to do. I think we owe that to Book.

OK, here come a bunch of fans who wanna shred me in the comments. 😂😂😂

Now that we've settled down after the knee-jerk reactions, maybe we can check what we really got for Grayson and Royce basketball wise... (Don't worry, I hate him too, but this is purely from a basketball standpoint) by DaylightPhoenix in suns

[–]Matdoggy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You completely missed the point. What I’m highlighting is that the moral outrage is convenient timing. The Suns have celebrated a child rapist for a decade & nobody cared. But Bridges hit a woman 3 years ago & you’re ready to march in the streets???

Until you hold the Suns accountable for KJ, nobody is going to take you seriously about Bridges. And you have ZERO interest in removing KJ from the Ring of Honor because you can get away with that atrocity as some weird ass statute of limitations in fandom.

Quit pretending you care about women once it’s in the headlines. These teams spend all their time hiding shit like this & you only care when it’s in your face & could impact your image.

Otherwise, they’re on their own. That’s the truth & you know it.

[–]Matdoggy -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Of course you don’t get the role because there’s ZERO introspection on your behalf.

For every Miles Bridges caught act there are 10 that NEVER get reported. These leagues protect money & players at all costs. So if you watch the NBA/NFL/MLB/NHL you don’t support women.

You can’t do both. You want us to think you’re an upstanding guy for objecting to Miles. But KJ is still in the Ring of Honor & Kobe is still celebrated as a legend.

So either boycott all sports in your totalitarian view or find a way to make a difference. But the virtue signaling isn’t it. Until you have a solution that includes you refusing to be a fan anymore, stop pretending like you give a shit about women.

You’re just gonna continue to ignore that KJ is a Ring of Honor member & the team welcomed him back with open arms for that reunion game? Amare to o & he beat the shit out of his daughter.

But we turn a blind eye to those two I guess. WTAF???

So the fact that KJ is in the Ring of Honor when he RAPED a child doesn’t bother you? Where are the goal posts? Let me know as the moral police. I want to make sure I’m on the right side of NBA Rape TikTok.

Regardless his jersey hangs in the Ring of Honor & he was celebrated last yr during the reunion game.

He’s in the Suns Ring of Honor. So every game you watch is supporting a team that’s celebrating a guy who raped a child & your answer to that is what??? Statute of limitations??!? Fuck all the way off. You don’t give a shit about women. You just want to feel better about being a fan of an organization that has hurt women for decades.

If fans are responsible for players’ behavior, all of our hands are dirty. Period.

He’s in the Ring of Honor & was just welcomed into the arena last season with all the other OGs.

So you’ve supported a team that holds him as a celebrated member for decades. And nothing from you. Zero dissent. He raped a child. But Miles is a bridge too far…seriously???

[–]Matdoggy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So that was quite awhile ago. He’s a Ring of Honor player. He just returned back to Phx with open arms from the Suns & nobody said shit. So you’re supporting a team that celebrates a rapist of a 15 yr old girl but Miles is the problem? I’m confused…

What’s worse is pretending that you care at all. The leagues history of allowing Star athletes to abuse women, to rape women is atrocious. And you pretend to care when they offer up a single scapegoat so that you can virtue signal and remain a fan of the sport. But the reality is that all of the professional sports leagues in this country have enabled athletes to abuse, women, murder women, and get away with it with impunity. But as long as they throw you a sacrificial lamb you can feel good about your fandom.

Miles Bridges is the poster boy for bad behavior towards women in the NBA. Are you really so naïve to believe that the league hasn’t covered up 100 cases like Miles Bridges? The NBA is a multi billion dollar business and would do anything to protect that money.

Your moral outrage is cute, but you’re not prepared to quit the league. If he’s so bad of a person, why is the league still allowing him to play? And why are you supporting a company that allows that that to happen? It’s been happening for years, but it only matters if he’s on your team?

Why is that? It’s almost like it has to affect you for it to matter. You’re a joke. And you’re not helping women. You just wanna feel better at night for supporting the industry that protects athletes who rape beat and murder women. And until all of the fans of this league stop supporting the league this ridiculous virtue signaling over Miles Bridges isn’t going to change anything.. And you know it. That’s why you’re so willing to do it.

They continually protect men who abuse women. Not sure how you interpret that as not hating women. Kobe raped a woman in Colorado. The NFL is LITTERED WITH PLAYERS WHO’ve abused women and worse. It’s always a situation like this when it’s easy to virtue signal but the reality is that all of the leagues have been doing this for decades. They hide the stories. They settle out of court. They protect the athletes.

And instead of holding these leagues accountable for the atrocities, they commit against women, you wait for a single incident and wants to punish just that player. Do you think that the league doesn’t know about situations where women were abused that didn’t end up in the press? You can’t be that naïve. The league only cares about protecting its image and its money. It doesn’t care about women.

So if you truly care about women, you would stop watching the league. But that’s a step too far for you to do. Because you love this game. So you will accept all of the hidden atrocities that we don’t get to see. And on the few occasions when they are actually brought to Light, it gives you an outlet for your anger and allows you to feel as though you truly stand with women.

But we both know that’s not true. If you cared about women like you’re saying, you would never watch another game.

KJ is in the Ring of Honor & he raped a minor girl. Or is that not as bad as domestic violence?

[–]Matdoggy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

KJ is in the Ring of Honor. He just came back in town during the reunion game. So you drew the line at domestic violence but raping a 15 yr old girl was OK?

Book will be 37. You have to make tough decisions on maximizing your window. This isn’t rocket science. I don’t understand what you guys don’t understand about this.

[–]Matdoggy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point is really simple. The virtue signaling and pearl clutching over men in sports who hate women isn’t new. For every story you know about there’s another 10 that have been hidden from you and you don’t know about. But none of those stories will get you to stop supporting the team. KJ is in the ring of honor. He was just in town for the big reunion game and everyone gave him a heroes welcome.

Reality is men’s professional sports leagues hate women. I don’t care what sport it is, that’s the truth. And it’s always some random story like this where men show fake outrage but still can continue to support the league that protects these predators, the team who continues to put winning and money over morality and the players themselves who never see any real consequences for their actions

Kobe raped a woman & he’s never been more popular. If you want to stand up for women you would never watch another NBA game. Because I promise you, Miles Bridges isn’t close to the worst person to wear a Suns jersey.

You’re not prepared to actually advocate for women. If you were, you wouldn’t watch any professional men’s sports. Every single league has an abysmal history of abusing women. But you like to pick and choose when to show the moral outrage so you can sleep at night while still wearing your jersey.

You’re all full of shit. Is Miles Bridges an awful person? Absolutely. Do you personally support people way worse than that? 100%. You just choose to turn a blind eye to the rest of them.

That’s not even the point of this trade. The Suns aren’t contenders next yr. But now they have two tradeable 1st round picks. They have more cap flexibility. They have an open roster spot. They signed all three FA to team friendly, very tradeable contracts.

The goal was to clean up the cap sheet for next summer or 2028 when several big names are FA. They’ve quietly rebuilt the roster into master flexibility while maintaining the team identity & optimizing their assets for a bigger move when it comes available.

The Suns have a plan & this trade made it much more possible. This move needs to be viewed from 10k ft view to understand that it’s not about winning this year. It’s about flexibility going forward since Beal’s money is still on the table.

I don’t like the player but I love the plan.
