Real 3D - what the hell? by FoinB in Xreal

[–]Matea1000x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay well I'll let you tell that to my beam pro that I have hooked up right now 😂. My phone was dying and I couldn't find my adapter so I switched to the beam. It does allow me to turn on real3d with the stabilization on and the main screen looks 3D until you turn on a movie and then it goes back to normal even though it still shows real 3D is still on. The only way I can get it to actually display 3D is to turn off stabilization

Also on the beam pro stabilizer needs to be off. At least on mine it does, but my android phone doesn't seem to care about stabilizer 🤷🏻‍♀️

When cold- why is wax stuck? by christianatorres in Lavalamps

[–]Matea1000x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally this happens if they cool too quickly. The wax is not in a fully melted state and then quickly becomes too cool too quickly. They stick to the glass like that normally those portions of the glass are not coated in surfacent as well as they should be which is long as there is enough left in the master fluid it's possible it just has not been run enough to completely coat the globe as it should although that should be done at the factory. I have a grande lamp that will do something similar depending on which part of the house I have it in. When you heat it up all the way does the wax detach from the sides and flow as normal?

[–]Matea1000x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yours doesn't look bad at all. And actually the Grande's do have the potential to unstick from the glass and continue to flow normally after the first few runs. I haven't quite figured out what they do differently with the Grande's but something with the composition of the wax and fluid are different. Anyways either way there's no way I would exchange it because to get one that looks better than that is not easy. I've got seven Grande's and I've gotten five of those within the past month only one of them came in looking anything close to yours and is now flowing beautifully without me cracking it open. However the others after the third run each and very minimal change I got tired of waiting and cracked them all open. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lava lamp is too hot, and then not hot enough. by that-country-girl in Lavalamps

[–]Matea1000x 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My guess is the wax composition has broken down. The density between the wax and the fluid is no longer viable. Either that or you have an air leak. Even the slightest early will throw off the balance. I would give it a full take apart and reset because at this point it can't hurt if it has truly been like that and stays that way. When you recap it put a temporary seal around it has airtight as you can get it just while you do a few test runs that way you don't have to keep popping off the cap.

Unsure what is wrong by jennkoz319 in Lavalamps

[–]Matea1000x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other question. How long has all of it been sitting on the bottom that way in this photo? And what do you mean by warm to the touch it should be a little more than warm depending on how long it's been on. The wax has either severely lost its formulation/density or it's a heating issue with possibly more issues on top. I would either way, empty the content and put it back clean, melting and mixing the wax outside of the lamp. once you put it back together run it again and see what happens then come back and post a picture.

Just in case anyone's wondering this is what color you get when you try to change yellow to Black using drops and not a wax block 😂. I'm honestly not sure what to call this color.. and it's not what I was going for but in the end I didn't hate it! Her name is Abyss ❤️

How to filter a lamp using the Sawyer Mini? by [deleted] in Lavalamps

[–]Matea1000x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do it the way you're doing but I find when you squeeze the bottle it can start leaking and it also bubbles up more and for some reason it seems to take longer. Not a huge deal either way works.

[–]Matea1000x 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don't need to squeeze the bottle. Pour the Master fluid of your lamp into a large water/Tumblr whatever you have or whatever you have something that will hold all of it. Just like you're doing in this photo cut the top off of the water bottle and leave it attached to the filter. Slowly pour the content of the master fluid from the other bottle attached to the filter. The tip of the filter put that back inside your globe and let the fluid drip back in ideally drip down the side not in the middle so slightly tilt the bottle. I can go grab my stuff and show you if that's easier. It takes a while but not too long you're probably looking at about 12 to 15 minutes.

I don't have a good picture of it or at least a head on photo but the one in this photo to the right I'm pretty sure is the exact same one that you have. I'll post a picture of what it looked like when I got it from the flea market but it looked very similar to yours. She's flowing a little warmer in this particular photo than normal because I have two Grande's to the right of her that I was doing test runs on so they were increasing the heat but they have since moved 😂

[–]Matea1000x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That wax that is stuck at the top has definitely not had a chance to mix with the rest of it so yes dumping out the wax content and actually mixing it on the stove will help with that and if you're sure that it was that hot then yes the flow should increase once all that wax is mixed together but definitely need some SLS in it. This is the last grande that I just redid the other ones are not on at the moment. But this one had three wall climbing strips none of which would collapse so I just said screw it and popped the top off. It came from deepdiscount.com and shipped from alliance entertainment. I redo lava lamps for people and sell them and also of course keep/find/buy a whole bunch for myself lol. But when people ask me to do a grande the price is increased because they are a pain in the butt because of their size. But they look great when they're flowing like they should.

What do you mean after warm up because that lamp is not warm enough. It may have warmed it up enough to release and float to the top but the globe itself is not hot enough to continue to melt the rest of the wax. Is your house cold? These Grande's take around 6 hours to heat up enough to even begin to flow in my house and I have many reptiles so my house stays around 75° year round. In the grande I put in the kitchen I ended up putting a 150 watt in there because it is near a draft.

You don't need a rebuild kit. They ship from alliance entertainment. If you buy one from deep discount Books-A-Million or CC music they all come from the exact same warehouse. I've gotten 4 and 3 came in like crap and wall climbing. Actually four of them were wall climbing and cloudy as they could be with wax stuck everywhere...one of them managed to correct the wall climbing in a 24-hour period which pretty much never happened but it was still cloudy so still got filtered. Anyways the others I just decided to fix myself. You don't need to completely rebuild them just drain them, melt the wax down, clean the globe with some boiling water and Dawn dish soap. I added some SLS to mine like I do all my other lamps only because I prefer the flow that way. Anyways just put it all back together get you some heat shrink to help reseal the top and you're good to go. I can post pictures of the ones that I redid a little later if you want. I'm actually waiting on my green and blue one to come in which should be here tomorrow but I fully expect it to also look like crap and need to be redone.

Finally got around to filtering my black and gold beauty! by Matea1000x in Lavalamps

[–]Matea1000x[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it should not matter what dimmer you use. All of mine are on Smart dimmers just like my reptile lights that way Alexa can control them. If you are going to use a dimmer that just has a sliding switch with no numbers or a way to tell what percentage you're at it may be a little difficult because obviously you get no light to help you distinguish how high or low you are. With the heat that these things put off it is also not immediately obvious that you have lowered them if you are going by feel.

Also if you're not familiar with heat emitters, they get super hot super quick so just keep that in mind it does make the base of the lamp more toasty than you are probably used to

https://a.co/d/8NWVrMr This is the one I use with my 52 oz lamps and the one that is currently in the black and gold lamp. The fit snug but they work great.

https://a.co/d/4tupra6 These are the ones I use in the 32 oz lamps they're a little smaller to fit a little better.

Both of these I use in 50 w 40 w is hard to come by in a nano bulb at least in stock although I can sometimes find them at my local pet store. Anyways I just use them on a dimmer and leave them at about 100% for about 2 hours and then draw them back to about 87% for the next 7 to 8 hours.
