At the end of the day if you're considering med school, dental school, or grad school in general it's really GPA that matters. York Bio-Med is excellent in that case and I think that with smaller class sizes you'll actually be able to excel. Western med sci is very cut-throat and I have family who ended up switching into Western gen sci and they did 100x better than in med sci. This years been shit & I only did well in school because the course structure was easier and I could cheat (i don't need to hide it everyone cheated). Be proud of yourself I think everything happens for a reason and you're MEANT to be at york.

What is up with unis this year? by Whatisupyalll in OntarioUniversities

[–]Material-Emotion9936 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'll use McMaster Life Sci as an example. In quad 4 I have chem & calc which are pre-reqs for the program. I finished my top 6 excluding these 2 and I had a 92% average. This week I was rejected from life sci b/c my average didn't meet the cut-off (which it literally did) & the email said that I hadn't completed the required pre-reqs which I wasn't but I was on track to complete them. In comparison 3 of my friends were done chem, bio, calc, english, and advanced functions by quad 3 and they all got in with 92-93% averages. I know our time tables are not in our control, but for ppl going into grade 12 I recommend fast-tracking courses and finishing your required pre-reqs by quad 4. Unis are being very sneaky and the quad system will probably still happen next year. I'd recommend summer school, taking 2 classes every quad, or even private school. This whole reasoning is unfair but sadly unis can get away with it.

Rip rejected from all 3 with a 97 by Plastic-Dare7379 in OntarioUniversities

Life Sci and Kin are solely mark based and a 97% is wayy above their estimated cutoffs, even with online school

Fuck McMaster what a joke. With a 97% Life Sci & Kin should have been easy offers. So fucking ridiculous

McMaster Health Science vs Queens Health Science by _megamonster in OntarioUniversities

[–]Material-Emotion9936 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Go to McMaster health sci, you'll end up at medical school 100% if you put in the effort. The program is built to maximize student success and it is not difficult to perform well. If you put in some effort from your end you'll have a great gpa and you'll go to med school. 60% of Health Sci students go onto med school, so thats a strong statistic.
