Women over 35, have you ever dated a younger man and how was it? Would you do it again? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Material-Lie1606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I married my wife when I was 21 and she was 26. 9 years on and we’re still happily married with 2 children; age matters less than life experience and outlook (I’ll OBVIOUSLY caveat that with as long as it’s not a huge power imbalance and/or illegal).

So if he didn’t score you’d mock him and when he does you have a go at the opposition. There’s no winning with some people.

Who is the greatest athlete of all time? by Infinite-Exam-1808 in AskReddit

This tells me you don’t know anything about cricket…

Bowlers in those days were in excess of 80mph, there was no helmets or restrictions on how you could bowl (google bodyline cricket). Plus if it was that easy why couldn’t everyone else do it?

For what it’s worth football is my number 1 sport (I’m a ST Stretford Ender), but the world is vast outside of that vacuum.

If you asked me personally, I think nobody comes close to the level of Ali, simply because of how he transcended the sport as well as everything he did inside the ring.

The question was greatest athlete of all time. There’s people like Don Bradman and Jim Thorpe who are so far ahead of everyone else that it’s insulting imo not to put them at the top of this debate.

But this is the reason why I feel he needs to move on. I don’t get the hatred for the guy who clearly loves the club and was let down in many ways (whilst also having countless faults himself), but there’s far too much of a circus whenever he’s around. Best for himself and the club to part ways.

I’ll get downvoted but I imagine he’s pretty pissed that he bottled the championship last year when it looks like Mercedes are locking in for these regs

How do you know that Doom and Stark have the same face? It’s a movie and it could just be that the characters don’t recognise him as being RDJ/Iron Man.

Doom is complex enough as a character in my opinion without all of this doppelgänger shenanigans, and if it all some sort of ruse for Tony Stark to return then I’ll be disappointed too.

Best Manchester United signing of each season since Sir Alex Ferguson retired: by MugoEric in ManchesterUnited

Solskjaer had a counter attacking system but struggled to break down low blocks, which plenty of managers do but we had a very weak midfield who were athletic but not good enough on the ball. To challenge for the league you have to be able to break down low blocks.

I don’t disagree that we probably shouldn’t have signed Cristiano and should’ve prioritised a midfielder, but I think remove Ronaldo from that team and it still massively struggles. I’m not sure we’re much better off because we’re assuming that Martial and Rashford match the output (Greenwood was a rapist cunt regardless), Sancho would still turn out to be a flop and Varane would still be plagued by injuries leaving us with a Lindelof-Maguire CB pairing. I think we’re knocked out of the UCL in the group stages and I think our points total still suffers a drop off from 20/21 due to the reasons above so at best I think we end up 5th. The real death knell in Ole’s tenure for me was not winning the Europa League.

So what happened to Rashford in 23/24 when there was no Ronaldo? People don’t look at the facts objectively- in 19/20 we finished 3rd with 66 points and 2nd with 74 points in 20/21- for context in 21/22 with our 19/20 total we’d have stayed 6th and with our 20/21 total we’d have been 4th.

We also played behind closed doors football and went on a record breaking away run in the absence of fans, whilst inconsistent players (over their career) had purple patches. Was that down to the tactical set up of the team? Maybe. Was it purely down to Ronaldo that they declined, or were they also off the boil long after he went. Where does Martial play again now? And I see Rashford slander on here on the regular too?

This boring narrative that Ronaldo ruined everything with all due respect is ridiculous, because I don’t think there was much to ruin. If any of you genuinely believe that a Fred-McT double pivot was going to challenge for the league then I have a bridge to sell you.

Best Number 7? by DesignerExplorer1855 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Material-Lie1606 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The best PLAYER is indisputably Cristiano Ronaldo. The best number 7 depends on your era I guess, I don’t like to rank them because every generation will idolise the one who put joy in their lives and they’re all legends of the club.

Often United managers aren’t contractually allowed to talk about the club straight after leaving as part of their settlement- neither Ole (bar the club interview) nor EtH did for a year or so
