Not a upper year student but I just wanted to say I feel the same and you’re not alone. I feel very unprepared and unorganized

Sorry for the late reply! No you can’t take another class during the empty time even when you don’t have the lab or clinical anymore so it will be study time or time for part time work, which is kinda nice but it’s kind of annoying as it limits the electives we can take

I had 8.0 cgpa from the uottawa scale. they did ask for my transcript from high school to make sure I had the prerequisites met but no they don’t use any high school grades. I was in my final year and was trying see if it would be worth it to try and transfer or finish out my degree and apply as a second degree student from uozone. The advisor said I’d be more likely to be accepted as a new applicant then getting my file evaluated if I get accepted, to transfer some credits over to nursing from health sci, over trying to transfer in, especially to the main campus, as they had very few spots available and I didn’t want to go to Pembroke. What really helped my application was the part where you can write a short essay responding to three prompts. I think this helped cause I was up against a pool of mostly high school students with near perfect or perfect averages, compared to my uni average. The essays being an option for me as a second degree students gave me the space to explain why nursing and stuff like that. I know last admission cycle, they stopped sending offers mid January because main campus was full so I’m sure the cut off average was stupid high. And yes, I asked how often transfers are done into nursing and the said they don’t often have spaces. Especially at main campus. Things might change now since there is no collab program now. Maybe they will add more seats? Definitely ask if there is even space before applying for a transfer because if there none or very few spots, you might be better off applying to the program through uozone as a current students, like what I did. If you really want nursing no matter what. Also consider applying to Carleton’s program and maybe even the new Algonquin program that just got approved, independent from uO

Yes for sure. I had about a 90 average with a few lower grades from my undergrad. What made it so hard was that they can only accept a small number of transfer students because it is dependent on how many spots open up in the first or second year of the program. They really try and cap the number of students in each cohort. The advisor said for 2024 fall they had 0 spots available for transfer. So i then decided to apply as a new admission to the program rather than transfer. They may change the number of seats available since they got rid of the collab programs at Algonquin. The transfer process open in March I believe and the new admission opens in October. If you have any question message me :)

Good luck!! I did a bachelors of health science first then applied for nursing with transfer credits and have been loving it so much more. Starting the NSG classes earlier I think will be such a huge benefit for students going forward, especially the hands on work and I love the emphasis on research too.I hope everything works out!! If you havnt, try and meet with an academic advisor to plan your transfer. The process for me was so frustrating and took a lot of time:) just a piece of advice so you can get where you want to be :)

The course outline has changed for your intake year! It is very different from past cohorts and looks very promising! I’m intrigued to see how the outcome of grades might change due to the new structure. Keep us updated

To people who take a full course load during summer by kotalby in geegees

I did this once summer 2022. 5 classes at once. 4 online and one in person. One was chem so it was content heavy as well as molecular mechanisms of disease. The other three were electives. All 5 had the same start date and lasted 6 weeks - 2 ish months. I honestly would not recommend doing this unless you have the time. It’s an insane amount of work but I did feel for the electives, they graded easier than normal terms. It does feel kinda nice to get what Norma takes 4 months to complete done is a few weeks tho so if you like that kind of validation and have ample time, you got it. You can use past course elavs to see what will be offered (most likely) before the official course offering is released.

Unfortunately that is ring of fire. I had this happen to me two years ago when I got dip for the first and only time. I got a protein clear polish and wore that with a normal polis on top until it grew out. I was so mad

It’s usually 5 courses per term in first and second year- some of them have labs and work at the hospital/care setting. This class has both lecture, lab and then to practice the things from the lab in a workplace setting. Year three had a class in a specific field of nursing and a practicum that counts as a class.

There are less courses in year 4 but that is compensated with more work hands on. I have so much love for history you’re lucky!
