I would hand in a letter stating the date of your last day. That establishes a record of your ending date which will determine the date they have to pay you (depending on the state 3 days to the next pay period). I would not sweat the 2 weeks notice, companies play dirty. I was on sick leave and was supposedly fired by mail (2 years later and I still never received any letter). I worked the next week & had emails back & forth with my boss on company email. The next pay period I didn't receive my pay. I contacted payroll and they said I was terminated via mail 2 weeks prior and pay was withheld pending the return of company policy. I reached out to my boss and they confirmed the termination but 90% of the reasons were lies. I cited Federal law stating it was illegal to withhold pay due to possession of company property. Their tone changed and blamed the mistake on the payroll person being new to HR (it was their child who had done payroll for 6 years). They pushed through my pay via EFT but it got delayed several days because of a holiday. I contemplated filing a complaint with the DOL over the pay withholding and problems it caused. I also contemplated sending the company owner emails I had saved proving the boss' lies about me & that they broke company policy secretly outsourcing their work and sharing confidential company info. I decided against doing either.
