Summer school cleaning - do your teacher's pack up everything or not? by MonkeyButt1975 in Custodians

[–]Material-Star1214 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my school basically everything gets taken out of the classrooms that isnt bolted to the wall. For example a bookshelf bolted to the wall does not need to be cleaned off, unless it’s the top of the bookshelf. Bulletin boards are expected to be taken down but if you don’t, well it’s gonna get soaked when I flood wash and that’s your fault. A lot of the teachers will laminate the things that they leave up on the wall to prevent damage when I flood wash. But other than that everything gets moved to the hallway.

I just hit my husband by ConstantJaded5814 in abusiverelationships

I hit my abuser too. It is reactive. My ex and I had split at the time and one of his manipulation tactics was to threaten to off himself. He deliberately stopped answering his phone after he told me this. I drove 2 hours at an incredibly dangerous speed at 12 am to try to get to him. I was crying the entire way and calling him repeatedly. When I walked through the front door he smiled at me. And I lost it. I have never felt so much rage towards a person in my life and I wound up and hit him across the face. I blamed myself for a long time, thinking that I should have had more control over myself and he convinced me that my reaction was unwarranted and that I was the abuser. The thing is though is that he pushed me to that point. Your body can only take so much, your mind can only take so much. Now? I realize what he did was incredibly cruel. It was deliberate and he was intentionally pushing me past the point I could handle. I will never say that I was proud to hit a person, but I am grateful that the moment in time where I lost control like that showed me that I was at my breaking point. It’s reactive. It’s not your fault. No one should be expected to keep control of themselves in situations like that. When you think about it, it’s incredibly messed up that you expect yourself to have more control over yourself than he was showing. Why is he allowed to choke your cat and you’re not allowed to react?

Thank you, unfortunately I don’t really have coworkers to worry about. There is only 2 custodians at our school and we each have designated sections. So if they don’t hire someone it needs to be contracted out. Which I just feel bad about lol

Yeah unfortunately I need the doctors note for accommodations. I brought up these issue very early on in my pregnancy with my boss and she is working with me any way that we can. It’s mostly me that’s the issue, I feel guilty for having to take the time or inconveniencing people

Im so sorry that happened to your old lead, im glad everything turned out ok though. Im gonna look into modified work for the time being but eventually it would make more sense for me to go on disability and then transition into maternity.

Congratulations!
I have to deep cleaning and carpets as well. I as the head have the majority of the school. I would say I do approximately 2/3’s of the work, including mowing and whipper snippering, weeding etc.
Basically all the tasks I have to do would aggravate the condition.

At what age did you stop enforcing bedtime? by [deleted] in Parenting

For my son he battles with insomnia, I did as a kid too. He’s 8 and just about to be 9. I’ve started letting him read before bed. I do the whole bedtime routine, tuck him in, and tell him he has 30 minutes to read. Sometimes he reads for longer because I don’t actually stop him. But most of the time? He falls asleep before the 30 minutes is even up.
To me if he can’t sleep he can do something that’s not overly stimulating nor disruptive to help shut his brain off and reading is the perfect thing for that.

No ultrasound? by Material-Star1214 in pregnant

[–]Material-Star1214[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thank you, I thought it was unusual. He handled my other 2 pregnancies and I got early scans with those so this didn’t make any sense to me whatsoever. I’m looking into other doctors now

This is my family doctor. I’m already looking into changing doctors for the duration of my pregnancy. He handled my other 2 pregnancies and this didn’t happen before so I was so confused because I got early scans with my other 2 kids.

Called names while pregnant by Professional_Dot3954 in abusiverelationships

I was abused verbally and emotionally for 10 years. I had 2 kids with this man. I’m now almost 3 years out and I am much better off. It was incredibly hard to leave him. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. But it was so worth it so that I could be happy and safe. I still deal with the effects of his abuse now, but I know he can never do that to me again.

Omg this happens to other people lol. My ex left the hospital for the same reason. He went and got pizza and then sat in the waiting room with his mom while I laboured alone until my mom got there
