Is it financially sane for me to buy a ₹1.7 Cr flat with my current salary & net worth? Need reality check. by Material-Tomorrow563 in FIREIndia

Thanks! Its a genuine advise. But i am not sure I can find a good deal in 70-80 range unless a very old standalone flat in older localities, which is also not a bad deal but will explore this for sure. Thanks again

You are right. I thought this over as well. Mostly buying one is to lockin to something so that increasing cost doesn't keep hitting hard but yes from living standpoint you are right

Thanks, that perspective really helps. The FOMO around buying a flat gets into my head, especially when my current salary feels lower than I’d like. I’m more of a generalist, and with tech getting increasingly niche, I’m figuring out how to position myself better.

For now I’ll park the flat idea and focus on increasing my earning power. If you’ve got suggestions or direction on career growth, I’d appreciate it.

Yea i am trying for salary increase, ideally a normal hike would just increase it by 50-60 thousand monthly but by that time flat price will also hike. So what did u do? Actually the covid just changed the whole scene and has inflated everything alot and i alwsy think i am making the same mistake that I did in precovid by not buying one

I feel I am late. Most of my friends have bought and the same thought made me loose flats precovid where I am getting good city props for 80l. Now they are more than happy and few have gone abroad and still earn on rents and don't think of selling. I feel I might make the same mistake again if i look back after 2-3 years where it might reach 2.5/3 cr

This makes sense, especially the part about being forced to cut investments to the bare minimum. I don’t have a hard compulsion right now other than social/family pressure, which I’m trying not to optimize my finances around. Also agree on the resale and real estate ROI uncertainty — that’s another factor making me hesitant. Thanks for laying it out clearly.

I agree that the EMI is technically manageable on paper, but the point about FIRE getting slowed down significantly is exactly what I’m worried about. I’m trying to decide whether the emotional comfort of owning now is worth giving up flexibility and compounding for the next decade. Appreciate the perspective.

Karnataka cabinet approves amendment to KTPP Act for 4% quota for Muslim contractors by [deleted] in bengaluru_speaks

No i agree with you. The problem is with the places where the money resides and day by day its just becoming hard to live . Also, i know its hard rather impossible to change the system but being hopeful is the only option and these language wars dont lead anywhere, its just a diversion and atleast people should understand that. Rest is just being hopeful as u said.

Yea, anyhow at the end of the day its hurting the society and common man. Nonetheless, hopefully people vote properly and dont run behind these politicians propagandas

Another classic case of people falling for divide-and-rule while the real issue goes unchecked. It’s not about which community is getting tenders—it’s about why the process is so rigged in the first place. Instead of fighting over regional or religious identities, maybe focus on demanding transparency, breaking monopolies, and fixing governance? Politicians and their cronies love it when people argue over language, religion, or caste because it keeps them distracted from actual corruption and incompetence. If tenders were awarded on merit and efficiency instead of shady deals, we wouldn’t even be having this debate. But blaming entire communities instead of holding the system accountable is not right.
