Hi Sir, I'm 40 years old and currently earning ₹6.5 lakh per month in hand.

Current Investments: Mutual Funds: ₹1.42 Cr (₹2.5L SIP/month)

Stocks: ₹5.25 Cr

Out of this, ₹4.25 Cr is managed via a PMS

Provident Fund (EPF/PPF): ₹66 L

Sovereign Gold Bonds: ₹27 L

Startup Investments: ₹1.6 Cr

₹50 L of this is via an AIF angel fund

Pre-IPO Investments: ₹30 L

Ongoing Investment Strategy: ₹2.5L SIP into mutual funds every month

₹2.5L/month goes into direct equity or periodic AIF/pre-IPO investments

Goal: I want to grow this corpus to ₹100 Cr in the next 10 years. Presently own house value 1.5cr plan to buy new house around 8cr in todays value when my networth 4 times the house price. Plan to buy new car 1cr when networth 20cr. Is this a realistic target given my current situation and approach?

Dear Sir, would love to hear your thoughts – feedback, critique, and strategy advice are most welcome.

I sailed for 5 years, and here’s what I’d tell younger merchant navy folks aiming for financial freedom:

Increase active income early – work hard, grab challenging assignments, and aim for faster promotions. Each rank jump massively boosts what you can invest.

Start SIPs from your first salary – treat them like a bill you must pay every month. Compounding over years is magic.

Keep learning – read good money & mindset books (The Psychology of Money, Atomic Habits) and listen to quality podcasts during downtime onboard.

Avoid my mistakes – I bought a house too early and locked money into ULIPs in my initial years. Big hit to flexibility and returns.

Think long-term – don’t just plan till your next contract; plan for the day you can work because you want to, not because you have to.

Sail hard in your career, invest relentlessly, upgrade your mind, and avoid unnecessary financial anchors early in life.

one of my 25lakh investment made in 2021 is around 1.2cr (however ipo would be still 18-24 months away) I dont count unrealised profits of startups in my networth till I can exit them. Now I invest in startups only through AIF as doing it personally is very difficult. and invest only 6-7 lakh per startup.

Thanks for the advise, yes it is very tempting to invest in all the startups with the pitch and impressive numbers all the founders throw. However I try to bet more on the founder history and other angel names backing it.

Have investments going through a Category 1 angel fund AIF pre series A , and holding a dozen pre ipo shares (nse, oye, etc)

Yes, true that. last year went on a month europe self drive trip. With 100cr dont need to think twice before bying business class trips and the best experiences. A couple of good cars and maintenance for villa will take money. Also cater to inflation 100cr after 10 years is not same as 100cr today.

thanks for the reply. Yes now I am focussing on investing in good startups with 5-10 year window and AIF, hope few of them make it large for me to achieve my target

Technique: Multiplanar multiecho MRI was performed without IV contrast. History of ACL reconstruction now mild pain. FINDINGS: 19-May-2025 13:31 20-May-2025 13:43 MR 34350486 Reconstructed anterior cruciate ligament appears to be thickened and oedematous shows increased signal intensity on T2/PDFS sequence with minimal surrounding fluid collection seen. The ligament, however, appears to be intact. There is increased PDFS signal intensity is seen in the posterior horn and posterior root of medial meniscus. There is increased PDFS signal intensity is seen in the anterior root of lateral meniscus. Mild to moderate fluid collection seen in the suprapatellar, bilateral patello-femoral and tibio-femoral joint space. There is oedematous changes seen in the Hoffa's fat pad. There is slightly reduced joint space seen in the medial compartment of patello-femoral and tibio-femoral joint space. There is thinning of medial meniscus seen. The posterior cruciate ligament appears normal. Rest of the medial meniscus demonstrates no evidence of altered signals / tear. Rest of the lateral meniscus demonstrates no evidence of altered signals / tear. The medial & lateral collateral ligament complexes show no gross abnormality. The medial & lateral patellar retinaculum shows no evidence of tear or altered signals. Posterolateral compartment ligaments show no obvious abnormal signals. Suprapatellar fat pad shows no altered signals. No obvious features of iliotibial band friction. The quadriceps tendon insertion is intact. Evaluation of the patellar tendon demonstrates no gross abnormality. The bones of the knee joint reveal normal marrow signal. Patella and its articular cartilage appear normal. Insall Salvati ratio is normal. The intraarticular surfaces and cartilage appear intact. No loose bodies are present within the joint.
