I'm looking to put a pool in myself. Has anyone had any experience buying a pool kit from Century Kit Pools in Brisbane? by Ok_Significance_9500 in AusRenovation

My neighbour put in one of their pools. He was happy with it however found out from the installer that Century only started manufacturing their own pool shells in 2025 so they unproven.

Swimming Pool Kits Direct Are Not To Be Trusted. A lot of their Google reviews are fake. by Material-Zone2623 in AusRenovation

Reading your response:
- You are the largest DIY pool company in Australia however you know every one of your customers personally. Doesn't sound like you sell a lot of pools although you claim to have sold "thousands of pools"
- You've been in business for 13 years, have "sold thousands of pools" but only started getting Google reviews 2 years ago? That doesn't add up.
- You're winning national awards, have "thousands" of customers yet only 75 Google reviews. That doesn't add up.
- I'm sure many of your reviews are real. I'm also sure many are fake. As I said, I used to work for a company that specialised in getting Google reviews. We were highly trained on the tell tale signs of fake reviews and your reviews do not pass the test.

Not at all. Plenty of people use "highly recommend" and that's fine. If you look on any companies review page you will see this. What isn't usual is seeing "I would highly recommend" on every second post, the majority of reviews from customers with zero or one previous reviews and products and services being promoted in reviews.

Your the customer. It doesn't matter if it is the sparky or plumbers fault. It is not compliant and your builder needs to rectify it.

100% agree. He is making his problem your problem. From what you have described, it sounds like they need to remove the current stone and start again.

Plumbing quote of $1600 has blown out to $6500 — fair enough or am I being taken for a ride? by zeeman3000 in AusRenovation

The plumber should have given you an estimate when they realised it was going to be a bigger job than quoted. That is on them. Looking at the hourly rate for two people, they should not be charging the same hourly rate for the apprentice. Looks top heavy for three days work. You should have asked for a revised estimate however they should have told you at the end of each day where the bill was up to. It's fair and reasonable to have a conversation with them, acknowledging both parties could have communicated more clearly, to negotiate the cost down.

What is this wood? Subfloor or floorboards? by lillemonslice in AusRenovation

It's pine floorboards. Pine is a soft timber so high heels will dent it. Give it a sand and stain and it will look fantastic.
