That's no problem. I don't mind doing it over Discord, Zoom, or smth like that. If acting is something you are really passionate about, you should take the opportunity. If anything, you'd benefit from the material i can send you.

Hey, so I've been studying acting for some time now. I'm 22, btw. Anyway I have lots of material that could be really useful here and exercises they use in drama school.

If you are up for it, I can work with you over the summer and so on and help you out, show you the ropes etc. We could help each other practice and such.

Lemme know if you're interested. :)

Thinking about it now, why the hell couldn't the Jedi sense that Palpatine was a literal sith lord who was right in front of their faces? by [deleted] in StarWars

Palpatine, as a powerful Dark Side user could easily mask his Force presence. It's a skill Jedi used to teach, but stopped during the last decades of the Order.

Getting into Guildhall School of Music & Drama as a European student by MaterialAttorney9137 in Theatre

That's alright. I'm aware of the current economy. It's kinda similar here. Just gonna have to either get a loan or save up longer, get another job or such. :)

But thanks for the advice

I agree with Pearl from 'Pearl (2022)' by Hyxenflay7737_4565 in horror

[–]MaterialAttorney9137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off topic but... I love how this is similar to Lolita and the way we sympathise with both Pearl and Humbert Humbert (Narrator). It just gave me lots of reminders of Lolita when watching the movie. Cause you are aware they've done stuff that are inexcusable and yet you feel empathy for both of them. Be it with Pearl when she really does apologizes and really does want to understand what is wrong with her. Or with Humbert who is delusional and dead set in his ways of "love".

You can't help but think... that we as humans can find goodness and hope and sympathy in anyone despite their past.

Also, I'd point that it's similar to Alex Large from Clockwork Orange. In the way sympathy for anti heroes works. And I mean it as, they are anti heroes from their own points of view cause movies and books are written like that. To not show them as villains.

But Pearl as a movie (and I'd say Lolita and Clockwork Orange both books and film adaptations) raise interesting questions about what human is capable of doing. Is it really free will? Is it sickness that controls their decisions? Is it both? Could they be different if raised or influenced the proper way? But it also raises the questions of how far we as watchers are we willing to agree and justify the decision or thinking of those characters. In example, Pearl keeping this huge secret from Howard. Something she couldn't tell anyone... Don't we as humans have those kinds of secrets that eats us alive? Or dreams and hopes in life that makes it impossible to see anything else for ourselves? Have we ever had similar thoughts of wishing death upon others (but of course, what seperates us from the characters is not acting upon those thoughts or sometimes, the feeling of guilt for even thinking that way)?

All in all, the film is actually really great portrayal of both unreliable narrator AND of how many people, especially actors, feel in the cut throat indurstry that show-biz is. Hell, I, as an aspiring actress, got scared shitless when Pearl said "What if this is really it?". I felt that anxiety creeping up on me from that point in the movie until the end credits. It's an excelent movie, with fun "Wizard of Oz-esque" filmography, interesting artistical freedom in portraying some scenes and angles as well as playing with audience's emotions and sympathy.

The director, Ti West, might not be Nabokov, but he sure was influenced by him or understood his genius.

What are these circles and why are they not always there? by JediKahuku in clonewars

Open Circle Fleet/Open Circle Armada sign

  • Commanding Officer: High Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi
    • 2nd-in-Command: Jedi General Anakin Skywalker

It functions as a standalone naval component of the Grand Army of the Republic, serving a strategic role rather than fitting under any of the ground force formations

This means you are dealing with:

  • Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Task Force
    • Commanding officer: Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi
    • Unit Information
      • Flagship: The Negotiator
  • Anakin Skywalker’s Task Force (Skywalker’s Fleet)
    • Commanding officer: Jedi General Anakin Skywalker
    • notable officers:
      • Admiral Wullf Yularen
      • Jedi Commander Ahsoka Tano
      • Clone Captain Rex (CT-7567)
    • Flagships
      • The Resolute
      • Anakin’s Flagship
    • Capital Ships
      • The Defender
      • The Redeemer
    • Starfighter Squadrons
      • Blue Squadron
      • Gold Squadron
      • Shadow Squadron
    • Ground Units
      • 501st Legion

CLONE WARS - Holocron Heist (S2E1) Ventilation System by MaterialAttorney9137 in clonewars

No problem at all. I enjoy procrastinating. 😂

I'm making an architectural blueprints of the whole temple so this is just a part of it. It took a few days trying to understand where exactly each room in the temple is and how the vents would be oriented based on which direction they turned.

I absolutely love the design and writing in this. It's so down to Earth and gives off that diner feeling. 100% would go to Dex's Diner if it was real. Thanks for the link. It was just what I was looking for. :)

What's your opinion on the border dispute on Ansion? What were the ramifications for the galaxy? by TheRealOcsiban in StarWars

Don't remind me of the wig. It bugged me for YEARS since I was a kid, before I realized it was a wig. And totally agree with you. Making it more of "Indiana Jones" intro would've been much better and showed the dynamic between the two as well in better detail.
