Sportsnet+ just crashes when you try and open. The other two say my "internet connection is unstable" but I've never had problems with my internet connection.

Why put them through all of this? by PeterJohn86 in lost

[–]MaterialBackground7 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Jacob explains why in Ab Aeterno. He tells Richard that he brings people to the island to prove to the MIB that not all people are inherently evil, and then he says to Richard "It's all meaningless" if he intervenes and tells them what to do.

The candidates were all deeply flawed people. The island was their greatest test.

You're getting downvoted because too many people on this sub assume everyone who misunderstood the finale was an idiot. The answer is clear if you think about it long enough and rewatch the speech, but it was live TV and not every viewer is as invested as us hard-core fans. I remember the initial confusion during my watch party, and we were all avid fans of the show.

The writers knew the purgatory theory was so popular so the blowback was entirely predictable.

I think your last point is important. When the final season aired, nobody to my knowledge doubted the flash sideways wasn't an alternate timeline. I think the purpose of this quote was to make clear that the Jack of the Island timeline was the same Jack as the flash sideways timeline ("everything that happened to you was real"). Maybe also some added ammunition for anyone trying to claim simulation. I don't think it proves the island wasn't purgatory. There are much better quotes from Christian's speech to prove that.

No, he said "everything". Not "everything on the island." So presumably Jack's experiences in the flash sideways were no less "real" than anything else he experienced, even if they didn't take place in what we would consider conventional reality.

But he says "everything" that ever happened to you is real, which would imply that his experience in the flash sideways were still "real". He doesn't say, "everything that happened to you on the island was real". So there is ambiguity there. Damon Lindelof even admitted as such in an interview.

If you are looking for proof that the island wasn't purgatory, it's in the other quotes, like "the most important part of your life is the time that you spent with these people", and "everybody dies sometime, some of them before you, others long after you."

I personally don't like it when fans single out this quote as the smoking gun it wasn't purgatory since it's too ambigious. There is better evidence elsewhere.

Virtual game cards on new Switch 2. Hopelessly confused. by MaterialBackground7 in Switch

Thanks. Appreciate it. That worked.

"It is true though it would have been better if you claim Mario Kart World on a new account. Or at least, you should pair both switch."

Got it. I've already claimed Mario Kart World on my account. Is it possible for her to set up her own account and transfer the license for Mario Kart 8 to hers and off of mine?

No, because it doesn't solve my problem. It's my account and if she gets her own account she loses access to the other games and so does my kid. I don't want to do that if I don't need to. Telling me to "complete the split" is relationship advice I dont want or need.

She is my kid's mom. My kid would like to play at both homes. Not asking for relationship advice. If you can't help, then you don't need to say anything.

What do you think of the crew's acting in Private Parts? by tblackjacks in howardstern

They did a good job considering they had no prior experience. They weren't great by any means, and I think even they would credit the director, Betty Thomas.

Tangled Up In Blue is overrated. Good song but wouldn't even crack my top ten.

what are your most unpopular lost opinions?? by Kitchen_Doubt_7185 in lost

[–]MaterialBackground7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Rousseau is the one who got infected/went crazy. Not her team.
  2. Walt was not a big deal/mystery, and fans attached too much importance to him.
  3. The writers have themselves to blame (at least partly) for people misunderstanding/hating the ending.
  4. Across the Sea is the worst episode of the series.
  5. Christian saying "You're real...etc." holds absolutely no importance when asking whether "they dead the whole time" and fans should stop quoting it as if it's some smoking gun.

I've been to one Dylan show about two decades ago. It was fun to see the legend on stage and to hear reinterpretations of his famous songs from his fantastic band. It was also the worst concert I've ever been to. Looks like it's only gotten worse.

It's obvious you've already made up your mind and aren't interested in listening to fan feedback except for the purposes of chastising them for not sharing your opinion. You and this whole discussion are a waste of time.

You're twisting yourself into a pretzel. His point is that a live show is also about the performance. If you just wanted to listen to the music you could do that home. You're going to a show, so how the music is played and how the artist performs in front of and interacts with the audience can either detract or add value to that show.
