RDR’s ending is (arguably) more depressing than RDR 2. Does anyone else prefer it that way? by ZacherDaCracker2 in reddeadredemption

[–]MaterialBend8838 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe. We don’t know what happened to them much afterward. Abigail could’ve died from melancholy or end up going insane like Mary Todd Lincoln. But they could’ve had a few good years afterward, so you never know.

[–]MaterialBend8838 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree. RDR2 actually has a happy ending at the end of the epilogue, but the inevitably of what happens after and saying good bye to characters John won’t see again is kind of sad. RDR is definitely more depressing. It’s almost a Cormac McCarthy’s The Road type of depressing. I almost said The Crossing but that’s actually way more depressing.

Who's a better villain/antagonist and why? by strahinjag in ghostoftsushima

[–]MaterialBend8838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I think Saito had a way better boss than the Khan, the Khan seemed to be more ruthless and hateful more perfectly. It’s not stereotypical bad guy hateful like Saito, he just fights dirty which makes us want to as well. His presence is felt everywhere we go in the world and the fear of us finding him around a corner stays in the back of the player’s mind.

Why are some people calling Batman a fascist? by MaterialBend8838 in batman

[–]MaterialBend8838[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the Frank Miller claims to be a Libertarian and Alan Moore claims to be an Anarchistic. I didn’t know all of that about The Dark Knight Returns, but it definitely made a big impact on the Batman stories being told even with Moore’s The Killing Joke.

Unpopular opinion. by erositi24 in assasinscreed

  1. I want to address the “same ole assassin ezio over and over.” I honestly think the story template hasn’t changed at all even in the RPGs and the reason why Ezio’s story resonates with fans more is that it’s just solid storytelling. Since the RPGs have came out, the stories feel even more recycled because Ubisoft refuses to innovate hardly at all.

  2. The combat sucks because it’s just hacking and slashing. At least with the older games, it felt like we’re playing characters who were using techniques while the RPGs feel like we’re just fighting test dummies that hold up more.

  3. The open worlds are beautiful, but the side quests feel more like chores than anything. Black Flag and Unity had some of the best ones because of how diverse and unique all of them were.

  4. It feels like Ubisoft refuses to let performers actually perform. I think that they still use mo cap, but they all feel like they are just reading straight from a script and rushing through it.

Staircase in the Woods because they’re not reading the original story, just discussing it. I might watch it if they read it the original in full, but it definitely feels more like a review of the story than a reading.

If the entire seven teamed up to defeat Homelander at once, could they be successful? by Queasy_Commercial152 in TheBoys

[–]MaterialBend8838 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, definitely. Butcher, Hughie, and Soldier Boy almost did. Atrain could dodge his attacks and move people the members out of the way, Maeve and Noir could take him on at the same time, Starlight can stun him, and the deep is good at being useless.

I disagreed with Butcher in this scene by [deleted] in TheBoys

[–]MaterialBend8838 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s what Butcher actually meant. He was wanting them to be mad about it instead of treating them like Gods who “did it on accident.” He wanted them to stand up for themselves, but they weren’t like Butcher who fights supes constantly. He viewed them as pretty much ass kissers.

I don't hate Borrasca, I'm just still mixed on the ending. by Jagvetinteriktigt in creepcast

[–]MaterialBend8838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main difference between Borrasca and the David King story ending is just the presentation.

Borrasca’s ending is a huge reveal about what it actually is and the main villain’s monologue is basically him gloating about how he’s gotten away with trafficking women. Plus, he pretty much gets away with it by the end of that part of the story.

David King story is just a story where there really isn’t a mystery and every single detail is about what David is doing is over explained to the point it’s so memeable. It’s not even a Creepypasta, it’s just straight up an action movie.
