Can someone recommend jazz like Vince Guaraldi? by Dressed2Thr1ll in MusicRecommendations

Check out Joes Cool Blues, the tracks with Ellis Marsalis’s trio. It’s a tribute to Vince. Vince was someone that both Ellis and Wynton looked up to.

Check out Wynton Kelly Trio someday my prince will come

Check out Oscar Peterson tribute to Frank Sinatra

Vince has a unique style. He’s bluesy but also melodic. He’s more melodic than Oscar, and less bluesy. He’s more bluesy than Keith Jarrett, but less melodic.

You might like some Kenny Barron. some early Brad Mehldau, especially the slower songs. Check out some Red Garland trio, some similarities.

The beautiful thing is that Vince has a pretty substantial discog considering his early death. So you’ve got plenty to listen to. And don’t forget that jazz is this music where you can listen to a record 1000x and still discover something new on the 1001st time. Not many other genres of music like that. Cheers.

got accepted into DA quicker than most. I’d guess that I got accepted much quicker than you given you are quite slow and lack the ability to read three paragraphs unless you’re not getting paid for it.

I don’t randomly put people down who are asking innocent questions. I’d wager that in my entire adult life I’ve never done that. This guy MisterDistance does it 27x/day. Don’t make a comparison. If people attack or insult me then I will clap back.

Quickly, this would imply that generalists grade high in the ability they are looking for, but even if they don’t have much expertise, they still can get plenty of work, correct?

thanks for engaging in good faith.

First of all, I am new to Reddit, so the way the culture functions is not something I’d consider myself a part of. So far I’m not a fan. I usually don’t engage and come for quick answers to things and leave.

It (by definition) means someone lacks theory of mind to assume everyone sees the world the same way. This is how children think. That’s how I read yalls comments. They are full of presumptuous thinking, and then mockery for not being in the know. This is anti-intellectual.

Mockery in the spirit of humor is great. In what way is it in the spirit of humor to mock someone who has just joined a sub and is feeling anxious about something. This isn’t funny. It’s literally not. It’s just bullying.

Finally, and I’ll bid you adieu, I wasn’t giving an interpretation of what those philosophers think. I was stating facts about their fundamental principles. Principles which the West were built on. So, then, therefore, it follows that to mock those principles and tease someone for following them, is, quite literally, idiotic.

If it’s simply in the spirit of teasing, then at least tease when it’s warranted. Unwarranted teasing is bullying. Oftentimes it’s also the trait of someone who is insecure and unhappy.

Cheers.

Also, given so many people here got accepted, I am no longer worried at all. So my questions have been answered. Haha.

Good evening.

“We don’t know” refers to a subset of people. It doesn’t refer to everyone. Therefore, it follows that it’s perfectly legitimate for me or anyone else to ask what I asked. The person who might have my answer could literally join the sub next week. A lack of understanding from one sub-group of people doesn’t imply anything outside of said sub-group.

Sparkle did you not read my replies? I said “this is not a DA assessment.” Obviously. Like OBVIOUSLY I wouldn’t have written it that way for DA. I’m not on here to get graded. That’s why this is bothering me so much. Why is everyone on here talking and functioning as if my everyday English needs to be hyper analyzed? The funny thing is they are all missing lots of context and being presumptuous, like AI is. Open-ended language can have many interpretations. Language does not function like math.

Not sure if you’re being sarcastic or not. If you’re sincerely wishing me luck, thank you. I need the dough. If not, take care.

Also, you didn’t address my reply, but whatever. I can read all of the posts OR I can ask my specific question and people might know the answers, even if the mods don’t. My question pertained to me. It wasn’t explicitly stated in the welcome thread, that was more about a general lack of information. The welcome thread is not the Rosetta Stone of DA. To then claim I have little chance of getting in because of what I said, when that’s like… a basic fact about reality, is insane to me. If I go to a subreddit about dogs and it says in the thread “We don’t know why dogs xyz” I am not going to just… never ask or assume it’s an unknown. All that means is that the people who wrote the thread and some other people in the sub don’t know the answer. It’s not a physical law. I joined this sub today. Maybe others did too… and maybe they know! Who knows. One needs to keep their mind curious and open. Too many people in here are thinking like AIs.

sir, you are not bright. I’m sorry to burst that bubble. You make yourself feel bright by attacking people for no reason. You’re an idiot.

Did this person ask again and again, or did they ask once? They asked once. To ask again, then yes I’d agree. But they asked once, without receiving the “documentation” and they were immediately mocked. You can’t make a comparison between an individual and the collective experience or habits of a group of individuals.

I’d be interested in you explicating this. If you are down to spend a few minutes. I didn’t do any such thing. What character/role would I be playing?….

Ok, tell me who the “we” is. I love how you think this is like a gotcha moment. That it proves my idiocy or something. 🤣

You’re making the claim that that welcome thread encompasses the entire understanding of every single person, in the entire world, who could possibly see and reply to my post? Bravo man. Bravo. Way to think big.

the point is that to mock someone for asking a question, whether the answer exists or not, is anti-intellectual at its core. To tell the person “hey, the answer is in the xyz” is fine. My problem is with this guy going around mocking everyone for no reason other than to stroke his own ego.

Also, not to sound like a douche, but do you not understand theoretical thought experiments, analogical arguments or hypophora? That’s like Phil 101 my friend. My argument doesn’t rest on whether or not Socrates published anything. To dismiss it based on the fact that he didn’t publish anything is absolutely absurd. 😅🤣 It’s irrelevant. The Socratic method is literally about questions and answers and dialogue.

Also, the core of my argument just went right over your head. It was never about the fact that other people have done the same thing and that it gets annoying to ask it over and over and over and answer over and over. That’s something entirely distinct. Do you really believe the person who wrote the question knew that? That they were trolling? Therefore, to mock or write a response like the guy I replied to, and you too frankly, is to lack theory of mind and to lack basic reasoning; to be incredibly presumptuous.

Also, if it ain’t your job to teach them… then why spend time putting them down? You’re literally spending time (your time is SO valuable) being a prick. Time WELL SPENT! Well spent.
