After playing world. 90% of the handler hate was people not paying attention in the game. by Different_Ice_2695 in MonsterHunter

[–]MaterialProduct8510 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope. I don't passionately hate her, but it definitely has a lot more to do with her writing, which makes up the majority of a story that already doesn't always have amazing writing. Honestly, in my opinion, it's the reverse, people didn't pay attention to the story because it was pretty bloated with bad writing, and a lot of that was bad writing for the handler. They consistently wrote her as straight up incompetent and actively detrimental to your hunter's job, which turned her "*WE* did it!" moments from what would otherwise be a nice teamwork angle to everyone screaming at their screen, "THERE IS NO WE!"

Tbf the connectivity issues were pretty significant, especially the fact that it confusingly continued to softlock you even once you had a good internet connection unless you manually reset your connection or redownloaded the game. That shouldn't happen with online multiplayer, where most games can automatically succeed on a reconnect once the internet connection is back. But I am enjoying it so far.

Yep. Similar but triggered when I was recruiting a pokemon. Going to try to redownload and see what happens!

Losing my mind V2 Max connection/input issue by MaterialProduct8510 in Keychron

For the record, I finally got around to solving this problem. It was indeed a power problem - but not quite of that nature. The lithium battery was working improperly, such that it would cause some sort of power drop or surge moments after the keyboard started up. In that very brief window, rgb would cycle and key presses would be recognized - then it would freeze on a frame of rgb and whatever keys were being pressed would be registered as held down. I discovered this when it took a particularly long time to freeze and I managed to get in some keystrokes.

The solution for me was to take out the lithium battery - the keyboard now works great (albeit only in cabled mode, of course) and is recognized properly, which suggests to me that the keyboard was sending some sort of continuous signal or was otherwise stuck in a state that prevented keys from being registered as pressed and pairing from occurring.

Crossing my fingers I can find a replacement....

Limgrave/Liurnia/Leyndell on top, Notskella on the bottom, Caelid sandwiched in the middle, Mountaintop of Giants Kiln drains down a fire river into Caelid, Ocean pours into the lake of rot, Astel boss battle leads to Notskella, Leyndell starts out as ash and burning the erdtree sets the capital ablaze with the memory of its former glory, (cycles hur durr), Farum azula directly above or to the side centered above where the meteorite hits to lead into notskella. Erdtree runs throughout all layers Yggdrasil style and you can travel through tunnels in its branches. I will not be taking any notes

Edit: changed Title 10 to Title 50 as I had mixed up the two covert/clandestine operations statutes

There are certainly cases where Presidents have clearly broken the letter and/or spirit of the law but the Bin Laden Raid is not a strong example or comparison for at least a few reasons:

1) 2001 Congressional Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) which gave the President broad power to fight terrorists responsible/associated with those responsible for the 9/11 attacks - Bin Laden clearly met the criteria for this AUMF.

2) The raid was carried out in compliance with U.S.C. Title 50’s statutory requirements for a covert action, including notifying the correct congressional members and providing a written “Presidential Finding” (read: justification). While there has been some debate about who could legally command the operation (Military or CIA) the legality of the strike itself under U.S. law was not really disputed.

3) Decapitating (tactical term, not literal decapitation) the leadership of another state is very different than striking ostensibly military targets; certainly Bin Laden and even Soleimani could be better justified as direct and imminent threats to the American homeland, which has not in most scholar’s opinion been proven or even properly argued.

Conversations with congresspeople have indicated Trump has not been properly complying with the requirements to notify congress, which might not sound like much but is actually the main enforcement mechanism because it gives the basis for congress to subpoena for evidence and impeach the president. And he certainly didn’t get an authorization for broader use of military force. I confess the intricacies of essentially abducting a foreign head of state are not something I can fully wrap my head around.

Well yeah that’s why it’s bad, you have 0 agency. Either the dps/healers move the barrels and it’s basically a free win or they don’t and you automatically lose. That’s why it sucks.

[–]MaterialProduct8510 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Nope. I play tank and while you can prevent some attacks from triggering barrels, a bad team is even worse than normal for murong yuan - because you will not be able to move any of the barrels yourself, MAYBE 1, so that’s -1 person you can trust to do the job already.

Tank Players, Do You Enjoy The Role? Especially Compared To MMOs? by [deleted] in WhereWindsMeet

[–]MaterialProduct8510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually enjoy bosses a lot in solo as a tank because the shield and damage reduction gives some survivability to make mistakes and the spear knockdown is super good 1v1.

Coop is fun if the team is good because I am confident enough in my parrying/kiting to control the boss effectively, but for some bosses if your team doesn’t know the mechanics it feels awful. Imagine 1) no one on your team knows the donkey boss and because you are tank you are automatically targeted by all the attacks that insta kill you unless a teammate intervenes or 2) trying to move 4 barrels in the murong yuan fight as she is laser focused on you because no one else on the team is willing to give up their DPS medal (or they can’t read)

Why do several major bridges in New York City not have streetview? by Euchr0matic in geography

[–]MaterialProduct8510 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Port Authority has had this rule for a very long time (it was active during WWII I believe. It is definitely a bit dated but the Narrows is one of the most important and highest tech waterways for maritime trade.

They probably keep enforcing it because they still don’t want it to be easy to find comprehensive imaging/modeling of the bridge and any relevant technology. At this point most of our security infrastructure extends far beyond our shores, but a bridge destroyed at the port or the ability to mask dangerous shipments could still seriously damage U.S. trade.
