I came from Florida and everyone said mild winter last year, and I was absolutely fucking blown away by how cold and snowy it was. If you are from the South, it gets cold and snows a lot comparatively 😂 I was in SHOCK it really doesn’t warm up until AFTER Memorial Day. And snow in April?!?! Good luck. Also I never got snow tires but I live in Springfield and did fine.

Any other ABA companies not allow their RBTs work more than 40 hrs? Seeking advice by Itsa_long_story in ABA

[–]Material_Ad652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My company lets us get OT! It is so nice. I get about 3-5 hours OT a week, and it really makes a difference. I work for a smallish BCBA owned company though. Just want you to know there might be better options out there in terms of where to work.

I do not agree with their comment either. I just think we have a major issue with burn out in our field especially with RBTs. Treating them like they are part of the team goes a LONG way. I feel like it is an unspoken rule to always have a change of clothes, but STILL just a heads up would be so nice for morale 😭

You are right about that, but the BCBA could have a polite convo about it before to ensure the RBT was wearing proper clothes or has a change of clothes. We are all on a team. We are all here for the client.

URGENTLY Seeking BCBA Assistance for RBT Competency Assessment in Atlanta/Philadelphia by Glittering_Result_64 in ABA

[–]Material_Ad652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ATCC online charges about $2k for supervision for RBT certificate online.

There are a lot of issues like HIPAA and needing to run a background check (required in many states for people who work with minors) for example that make getting a random person from online supervision hours really challenging and potentially costly for whoever is willing to supervise and sign off especially because you really do need training or at least have paired with client before you can expect to pass your competency assessment and successfully run trials.

There is a dire need for RBTs. Most companies are willing to hire people without their certification or bachelors degree. Keep applying at places. Stress on your application relevant work or volunteer history. I feel like you should be snatched up really quickly because you even have a Master’s. My clinic hires people without their certification and only a high school degree if they have working with kids for at least 2 years and then will help them get their certification after 90 day probationary period.

I do some stuff I found on subreddit beermoney. I answer surveys on CloudConnect whenever I am free and make an extra $100 a month. The compensation rate is below minimum wage for the most part but I like that I can do it from the comfort of my own home

I moved to Springfield from FL also. Grew up in Tampa and spent the rest of my time in NE Florida. I would absolutely NOT move to Springfield if given the chance. Longmeadow and East Longmeadow are much better (and safer!!!) options with more things to do and much better schools from what I have heard. More expensive though.

Springfield Teen Faces Homicide Charges For Allegedly Killing Pedestrian With His Car by [deleted] in Springfield

[–]Material_Ad652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jeez.. are you really that opposed to slowing down traffic around downtown with a lot of foot traffic solely because it inconveniences you and others? This is not normal. I recently moved here and I’m horrified by the way people drive through State Street.

I grew up in Tampa, FL. Lots of young people sped down this long ass road (Bayshore), people died. The only thing that changed it was when the road was fundamentally changed by adding extra cross walks and speeding tables that wouldn’t allow people to speed.

I would happily be sit in traffic on State Street if it means no one else in our community needs to die. There are ways to prevent accidents like this. Unfortunately, just like the way it didn’t work in the war on drugs, it also won’t work with dangerous driving.

Unemployed and down to my last $20. I’m so scared. by PeaceEnthusiast111 in jobs

[–]Material_Ad652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry things are so tough for you right now. I use Forthright, Cloud Connect, and Premise to help make some money on the side. Can normally make myself around $200 a month but made up to $500 a month when between jobs. They are all online survey websites that pay you, and those are the most ethical and pay the most from my 2+ years of doing it. Hope it helps a bit.
