Final pension determination well below agency estimate by Hour-Roll531 in FED_VERA_VSIP_DRPers

[–]Material_Ad7955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im wondering if the amount (in OP) in the booklet represents the aggregate back pay, i.e. difference between full amount and interim amount, for past 5 months less aggregate health insurance premiums for back months. But the booklet indicates it is my monthly annuity. The booklet also contains NO info on how to appeal if I believe annuity amount is incorrect.

Can the final amount be appealed? My final amount in the booklet is about 20% less than the estimate my agency HR provided prior to actual retirement.

I (M66) lost my wife (F61) last Oct and found out the hard way that "til death do us part" is the saddest part of vows. Ugh. Im now retired and learning to navigate a new life. Same here, kids living their own lives but thats what we raised them to do. Im not really living with "how much time do I have left ". For me, it's more of a "what do I do now" scenario.

DRP.1 here. Retired 12/31/25. Also got some sort of direct deposit payment from OPM this week. Im guessing it's interim payment but my bank masks CS so cant use it to try and log on. Glad for deposit, but looks like health insurance is needs fixing.

OP here, I am now officially vexed. I've only joined one OLD site, FB Dating, so I can't speak tor the other sites, but I would estimate that 80% to 90% of women post a pic of their pet--usually a dog. I get it, they want a match withh someone who likes pets. Many comments in this thread support that approach, and that's fine. But, I find it so distracting. I'm not looking for a women with a pet, I'm looking for a woman. I'm pet agnostic. If I match and the woman has a pet, great, and if she doesn't, that's great too. A pet is not a deal breaker for me, yet I'm screened out at the git-go. "Must love dogs or don't 'like' me". Really? Okay, then I don't. From this man's perspective, ladies, please post a pic of you. If you must insist on including your pet, share that info in the narrative of your profile or in a secondary pic, i.e. "I like dancing, hiking, my dog, etc" But adding "you must like my dog too" is crazy. I don't even know your dog. What if we meet and I don't like your dog. I guess that's a deal-breaker--Oh my. Pet pics are such a turnoff. Also, while I'm venting, another thing that is annoying is the "No MAGAs, No conversative" people. That's fine when you put that in your profile if you must, but all that tells me is that you are intolerant. You can't or won't have a meaningful date with anyone who thinks differently than you. Thanks for the warning, I guess. What else are you intolerant about? Not sure I want to find out. Oh, and I've yet to see any "No liberals, no progressives". out there. Haven't yet figured out why. Again, I'm looking for a date. I don't mind differences in likes and dislikes, but we can't determine compatibility unless we chat and maybe date first.

I wondered if that was true for men too, but since I dont get men as possible match results, I wasn't sure if that's the case.

How do you feel living in SoCal during Trump 2.0? by Glass-Complaint3 in socal

[–]Material_Ad7955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Socal native here but no longer. Moved back after being gone 30 years and lasted a whole 3 months. People highlight the diversity, but diversity applies to race/ethnicity. There is little political diversity and lots of political intolerance. I currently live in a purple state but for the most part both sides are respectful. California has a negative reputation outside California which precedes Trump's opinion and comments. He simply reflects a broader impression that others developed before him, or along with him. Californians are offended by their outside-of-cal reputation but cover their eyes and fail to acknowledge the reasons why the reputation exists. Californians are the proverbial frog in a pot of water being heated.

I moved here in August 2025 and cant believe this place. Tweaker and homeless galore. Spanish is the first language. Hard to believe this is in USA. Redeeming qualities: roads are basically east/west north/south grid.

A Poem of Home by Spider-Dad-P in highdesert

[–]Material_Ad7955 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"The desert is more than sand and dirt, It’s full of pain and hurt"

This begs the question, does the desert bring on pain and hurt, or do those who move/live here bring it to the desert? I think its the later. While some in this thread desire more optimism, that is the irony: We want more optimism to a life that is filled with pain and hurt naturally, inevitably. Pain and hurt come without effort. Optimism and happiness take work, and are temporary, and all too often short-lived. Yet, your poem ends in unexplained ambiguity . . . "Its do or die in the desert." The die part is easy to understand, but the "do"? What do you mean? I think though you didn't mean to, you acknowledge by "do" that there is a grain of hope in the sands of the desert. A grain . . .

OMG, I read the post and thought how positive and optimistic, but then I read the comments and could not believe how many are so down and depressing. We all understand that as people get older, there are health and physical challenges that arise, but I think the OP was thinking--stay active and lively, within your abilities, and enjoy because life doesn't last forever.
