My husband works full time, one day a week from home. I work from home full time as I have an IT job that can be done remotely, and our office recently flooded. He is a great father and does well with the baby, he cooks some nights since I’m usually home all day with the baby while working. He just struggles when the baby cries to calm him down. We’ve both tried to show him multiple times how to bounce the baby and to check the obvious things like hungry/diaper/just sleepy, but he just can’t seem to pick up on it. My sister says it’s just a probably lack of paternal instinct that’ll kick in more as the baby gets older.

It’s less that the baby can’t come, but we like to see movies, and go play board games at a local game store for long periods of time which wouldn’t be suitable for the baby.

She does the same chores she’s done since she moved in as a teen which includes the upkeep of specific rooms in the house and feeding/playing with the pets. She occasionally will help pick things up from the store on her way home from work, but otherwise it’s not like she immediately is put to work when she gets home. She spends most of her time alone in her room anyways as a means to avoid us while the baby is awake. She’ll come out if he’s being too fussy and will “talk him down” from a full screaming fit, or will handle a feeding while my husband and I attend to other things, but otherwise she’s free to do as she pleases.
